Scoring for DSST/Cleps

Just looking at the scoring grades through the EC website.
Some courses for example require 46 or 48 or whatever for a C pass, and say..55 for an A.
I know EC doesn't give you a grade for cleps. So obviously I will be trying for an 'A' on all my dsst exams for a good GPA.

I guess what I am really asking is...Is the scoring system percentage (eg 50/100%), or the score correct out of the total number of questions.

How many questions are asked on the cleps/dsst?

Hi Tasman,
The scoring is not a percentage, it is a scaled score. The number of questions vary from 80 to 120 depending on the test. Also, there are questions that are not counted and used for survey purposes only. You will not know which questions are eliminated. The score is adjusted for difficulty level as well. I was told by CLEP that the actual formula is proprietary and could not be revealed. The REA study books generally have a raw score calculator which shows the equivalent scaled score and recommended grade. While this is not a precise conversion, it is close. Hope this helps!
