My gripe with Coursera.

As most of us know, Coursera has 5 ACE-approved courses. One course is developmental, so it's pretty much useless. Pre-calculus currently has no open sessions. You can't sign up for it or view course materials at all. By the way, they recommend that you use ALEKS in conjunction with the course. Why would I want to pay Coursera and ALEKS when I can just pay ALEKS in order to earn credit for pre-calculus? Introduction to Genetics and Evolution won't be offered until January 2014! There are absolutely no course materials available at this moment, so you can't earn credit for the course at all. Weren't Coursera's courses approved for credit earlier this year or late last year? Why would they seek ACE approval for a course that won't be offered for another year! Calculus started on May 24th and you can still enroll. Bioelectricity already ended, but you can still access the course materials. I can't tell if you can still earn credit for it since all of the deadlines to turn in assignments have passed.

In my opinion, Coursera sucks when it comes to earning college credit. If Udacity and Saylor get more serious about offering courses for credit, I don't see how Coursera can even compete under its current model. Saylor and Udacity are self-paced and you can start taking courses at any time.
