NAU Personalized Learning Master of Organizational Leadership
#1
Northern Arizona University's subscription-priced competency-based education program Personalized Learning [landing page] is launching a new Master of Organizational Leadership (MOL) [2023-24 catalog page].

The MOL is so new it isn't specifically named yet on the Personalized Learning tuition page, but as of the latest update there's one tuition rate for all other NAU Personalized Learning programs whether graduate or undergraduate excluding nursing: $3,200 per six-month term, described as a "subscription cost."

It appears the MOL is not part of or from NAU's AACSB-accredited W. A. Franke College of Business and therefore is not an AACSB-accredited degree.

The program is 30 units, comprising these courses each 3 units. The courses are letter-grade except that the Capstone Project is Pass/Fail only.

Quote:ENG 529 - Management Communications
MOL 515 - Principles Of Leadership
MOL 541 - Introduction To Project Management
MOL 555 - Diversity, Conflict And Communication
MOL 590 - Strategic Planning, Implementation And Evaluation
MOL 600 - Management Information Systems
MOL 650 - Leadership And Human Capital
MOL 660 - Effective Decision Making
MOL 675 - Leading Change
MOL 688 - Capstone Project "Advanced organizational level leadership theory, degree synthesis case studies and student emphasis driven leadership research papers."

Another MAOL or similar!

That makes 4 major players in this game. UMPI, NAU, UMass, and WGU!

That's a very appealing program for those who can finish in 6 months, this offering is similar to their MCIT option as well...

What’s the finals of those classes? Paper or quizzes?
Thanks

This is a new program, no one has taken it yet... I don't think NAU is popular enough as their requirements for completion and their CBE model is different. We have had members investigate NAU CBE options, but ultimately they decided not to go with them. I don't think anyone on the board has completed a degree from NAU PL CBE yet... Most people looked at their MCIT program and inquired about that, otherwise, nothing more if I recall correctly.

I am taking it right now. There is like 2 more in my courses. I will say don't use FA if you do this program other than that.  So far so good.

Why do you say not to use financial aid for this program?

Masters programs are harder to get fin aid for, other than that, I'm also curious as to why it was mentioned not to use fin aid...

Ebroady23,

How do you like the program and classes? How are the courses set up? Do they have papers or quizzes, proctored tests?

Financial aid for master's programs is student loans unless you qualify for a scholarship at your college. There are no federal grants for grad school unfortunately. I wonder if some states have grants for grad students?
