CLEP Algebra vs CLEP Mathematics
#1
I'll be taking the College Algebra exam. However, the only resources I am finding on this site are for College Mathematics. I thought there was a difference in the content between the two exams. Can anyone clarify?

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

The two exams are significantly different. Compare the exam content outlines on the College Board website to see how different. InstantCert doesn't have materials for Algebra.

Which test do you need to take? If it's Algebra, several people on the forum have success with a tool called ALEKS, which you can find threads on by using the search feature. It's computer-based, self-paced learning.

Good luck.

Thanks for that info. I need to take the Algebra test. I've used ALEKS before so I may try that resource. Thanks again.

I'm studying for College Mathematics test, which I'll take on Monday. I took College Algebra back on June 30th, and can affirm that they are indeed different.

College Algebra is harder, and involves almost exclusively algebra and performing various operations.

College Mathematics looks exceedingly easy if the IC cards are any indicator. It involves only the basics of algebra, but also has conceptual content (naming this or that math concept, etc.).

I used the CLEP Professor program for College Algebra. It was amazing, and I highly recommend it. I used it almost exclusively to prepare for my test. I took one of its practice tests plus two of the REA tests. If you can get about 60% of the questions right, you'll be ready to go.
