New CBE Accelerated MBA from UMass Global

How was the coursework in the MBA program, if you don't mind sharing? What were the average number of papers per course, any exams, discussion posts, modules, projects, or PowerPoint presentations, and anything difficult we should know? This information may be helpful to those considering applying to the MBA program at UMass Global when applications open up.

3 assignments per course, 5 modules in most courses. Assignments build on each other. Usually papers, but 3 or 4 were PowerPoints or paper with PowerPoint (some with a presentation and some without) or spreadsheets. Quizzes that you must pass to turn in your assignments, but can take multiple times. Lots of things were difficult, but what happens in Fight Club stays in Fight Club.

Here is a breakdown of the courses and course work:

Each course has 5 modules. Each with a 5 question quiz that you have unlimited attempts to get correct.
Each course has 4-5 milestones (1 for each module, however only 2 milestones are graded and while these graded milestones are in module 2 and module 4. For this writeup, I will be referring to them as Milestone 1 & 2, respectively), 2 graded Milestones that have unlimited revision attempts. WhileThe milestones build toward the Final
Each Final, you get 3 attempts

Team Leadership and Collaboration
Milestone 1: Personal Leadership Analysis paper
Milestone 2: Virtual Team Leadership paper (find an article on virtual teams and write a summary of the article and discuss course material)
Final: Team Leadership and Collaboration Paper.

Marketing Management
Milestone 1: Marketing Plan sections 1 & 2 (2-4 pages including executive summary and business description, market segmentation, position and brand.
Milestone 2: Marketing Plan sections 3, 4, & 5 (3-6 pages including advertising and social media plan, challenges and strategies, and environmental scan and situational analysis
Final: Your marketing plan, a slide deck, and a voice over presentation of the marketing plan

Financial Management
Milestone 1: Evaluating Risk & Return, Determining the Cost of Capital (WACC), and Capital Structure & Dividend Policy - paper

For now they haven’t changed any assignments, just updated some course materials. But the overall point stands, remember that the information shared is from a pilot program, we have no idea what may change if and when this program becomes available to the masses.

They will also take transfer credits, so if you have credits similar to those courses you may be able to skip them.

They did not allow anyone in the pilot program to transfer credits in. This was something that a good number of students argued for since that was in writing, but they essentially said because it was a pilot program they were not allowing it. If and when this program becomes available to the masses, that very well might change. 

They originally also had elective course options, close to 10 courses. But those quickly went away too and we were all put on the same 12 courses.
