Took the practice test with Peterson's and got a combined score of 63%, not too bad for being away from it for some time.
50% in Listening Comp Section 1 (short audio clips), 87% in Listening Comp 2 (conversational/narrative clips), 56% in Reading Comp Section.
It has been since high school that I've been around Spanish (went straight into 2nd year Spanish as a Freshman then continued to 5th year AP Spanish my Senior year) so I do have a good general idea of the language. I know that I need to brush up on my grammar/reading skills section. Any study tips or good sites for the reading portion?

Hi MissRN, I'm also studying for the Spanish CLEP and I've been using the REA Spanish Language Guide and Schaum's Spanish Outline to improve my grammar, verb tenses, etc. I also took 5 years of Spanish in HS a few years ago

but I forgot quite a bit about subjunctives, imperfect/preterite differences, etc. so these two books have been a great help for me in those areas.
Check out the SpanishHour.com site if you are looking to improve the reading portion. It has material to prepare you for the Spanish Clep and also offers 3 practice exams to help identify your weakness. It's free if you sign up with your Facebook account. One of the users passed the CLEP with a 50 after using the program with no Spanish background so it seems pretty good.
Also, I read on the forum that some users recommended the FSI Language Course website.
FSI Language Courses - Spanish Programmatic
Good luck on your test!

Hola, I was just reading thru your posts and thought that I would comment real quick. I just took the Spanish CLEP a couple months ago and was pretty nervous about taking the exam. Know, I speak Spanish fluently and my family is Spanish but I can not read it or write it what' so ever. Know, going thru the site and reading different peoples experience with the exam it seems pretty easy.
I ended up downloading a practice exam tool on the site that I will provide here :
DANTES Prep
Download the Test Prep Tool and you can download practice exams for the exams that you want to take for CLEP or DSST especially Spanish. It actually helped me to pass the Spanish CLEP reading section of the exam. Follow the test prep questions and will find the same format which really was great as well. Good Luck. I ended getting a 62 I believe. 50 is passing 2 semester credits and 63 is 4 semester credits from what my file says here.

I've posted quite a bit on the forum regarding the Spanish CLEP, but I have found a new language resource that might be helpful. language-exchanges.org can connect you with a native speaker for free on Skype. You have to be willing to exchange some English help. I'm learning Portuguese now and my rule of thumb is to barter 10 minutes of English chat for 10 minutes of Portuguese. It's been amazing.. help from native speakers for free!
