These types of courses are pretty normal for any degree in “International” anything. Reminds me a lot of the course selection I had for my International Affairs degree
Tbf, at first I thought the course choices I had for that degree were strange, too
Global Studies, maybe, but most International Relations/Affairs align with a less holistic and sociocultural approach and more political science-based (think FSO/FAO or diplomat-focused).
I know its a small school so they probably just threw some electives together and called it good. It's not an International Relations/Affairs degree. Relations/Affairs is nowhere in the title. It is a "Studies" degree. Okay... It's intentionally vague to allude to International Affairs/Relations.
Using Global and International in the same degree title is absurdly redundant if international affairs is not in the proposed content of the program.

I agree that they should choose one or the other. It is serendipitous for me however perusing through their pages time-to-time and seeing more programs open up for students. I'm quite content with UMPI's growth both in student body via YourPace and the amount of degrees being offered.

Hopefully, the U of Maine system may add more CBE programs and place them all into UMPI's Your Pace portfolio... I think that would be best, having a cooperative partnership within the state education system. These can come from other sister institutions, not just the flagship... I wonder if they are planning this already.

UM Fort Kent has at least one YourPace program in the pipeline:
University of Maine at Fort Kent - President Hedeen updated on student adventures including trips to Acadia National Park and Baxter State Park. Summer enrollment increases are anticipated for fall semester as they work on preparing for convocation, orientation, and academic work based on new programs including YourPace, nursing, and the recently approved Bachelor of Science in Forest Management.

This makes a lot of sense. Surprised it took so long considering faculty from UMFK have been teaching in YourPace since 2021.

UMFK has a bit of a specialty in nursing, and I think I remember one of the Academic and Student Affairs committee meetings indicating the potential of UMFK doing something in nursing for YourPace. Don’t expect a prelicensure program in nursing, but an upgrading degree for existing nurses, like UMFK currently offers online non-CBE.

Wow, nice update... Looking forward to UMFK and the others to jump in with even more programs in the near future.
