At Charter Oak, "The age of the credits does not affect their transferability, although there is a time limit on applicability of courses in some concentrations." (Official Catalog 2012-2013, pdf; print pg. 12, pdf pg. 18.)

It seems like this is mainly, perhaps only, an issue for computer-related courses applied to a concentration. Even then there might be avenues to show 'currency' through continued work and study since the credit was earned.

TESC took all of my credits earned in the 1970s also. It's worth the $75 and the cost of a transcript to let them have a look...might save you some time/money.

Good point. TESC does seem to be the most liberal on transfer credits, and their BSBA doesn't require a "cornerstone" or "capstone" course unlike COSC or EC. Personal preference on the part of the student I suppose.

For the OP, here are degree requirements at TESC if you're interested in checking them out: BSBA in Operations Management Degree Program

I'm not sure what you can do to fill some of the area of study requirements, but usually if they fit the bill for EC they should for TESC as well.

My pleasure. Smile Many folks helped me out when I was pursuing my BA so I don't mind doing likewise for others here.

Quote:The piece you posted about Straighterline and the freshman year option - 10 courses, is what got me to really consider Straighterline to get through my lower level credits. We have a discount to use them saving over $300 from the link you shared so that will save me money which means I will have more in my employee account to use this year.

It sounds like Straighterline may be good for you then for all your humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, english and some business courses. Remember though to save some money, take Business Law and Business Communications through Saylor and math courses through ALEKS instead of Straighterline. Also, max out the eligible credits from ALEKS to save money. You should be able to transfer somewhere between 9-12 credits (I forget which). Look at Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Precalc or Trig, and Statistics through ALEKS. Just check with Excelsior first to make sure they accept these courses, or whatever other school you may go to.

I didn't think about TESC. I like that BSBA degree breakdown. I know this might be a naive question but where would I find those business elective classes? TESC, I think breaks it down a little bit better than Excelsior Excelsior BS Operations Management

There's a TECEP for Operations Management and there's a DSST for Management Information Systems which works as an area of study elective. You could ask if Penn Foster's Business Research Methods would work since it kind of sounds like Operations Research, but I don't know. Penn Foster also has courses in Merchandise Planning and Buying and Supply Chain Management. You just have to make sure these courses are ACE-approved when you take them. You would have to search for Quality Assurance.

The business core is easy to fill. All you have to do is choose the options I listed for the business core here. It's the same for all BSBA programs.

Thank you, that link and the document helps a lot with developing my degree map. That seems to be the hardest part so far, at least to me.

I submitted my application to my manager to start the Straigherline courses, I chose the freshman year option. Now I have to wait until approval and then the payment voucher.

The good news is that everything you take at SL to for either program will work at both schools so once you get approval work on those first. You don't have to enroll at either school yet so this gives you plenty of time to make a decision which way to go while knocking out the basic requirements for both!
