 Thank you!

UMPI's YP program isn't really designed for non-degree seeking students. Non-degree seeking students are typically those who have had issues in the past with a low GPA. You'd still have to apply and send your transcripts. Below is from the UMPI catalog and it is about on campus students, but it may give you an idea that yes you need to apply and send transcripts.

Non-Degree Admission
UMPI is committed also to serving the educational interests and aspirations of academically qualified individuals interested in taking courses for personal enrichment, job advancement, and expanded awareness.
Non-matriculated study is arranged through the Registrar’s Office in Preble Hall.
Enrollment in credit-bearing courses requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, and evidence of such may be required. The University may require additional evidence that the non-matriculated student is qualified to study at the 200 level and above. Permission to study full-time (12 or more hours in a semester) in a non-matriculated status may be granted in exceptional cases.

I know that's been offered to some people who apply and can't get in, but no, there is a real non-degree option for yourpace (the quote you provided from the catalog isn't specifically for YourPace). I've been enrolled for two semesters, starting last Spring, and was never asked to send any transcripts. They used to have a full page for it on the sight, but now there's just this blurb on the homepage:

Not sure if YourPace is right for you? Enroll in one of our sessions to try it out. If you decide that you would like to pursue a degree, credits that you have earned as a non-degree student can transfer to your degree completion.

You just go here https://www.umpi.edu/yourpace/certificat...e-options/ and click "Transferring somewhere else." Like I said in my original post it took a while but they eventually emailed me. The main benefit was when I started, you could only take two courses at a time, but this allowed you to do three, however I believe that restriction is gone now.

I haven't ever looked into UMPI YP undergrad non-degree-seeking enrollment, but I did talk with someone there about NDS enrollment in the MAOL program.

The reason I was interested in it is that due to the timing of when they confer degrees and when sessions begin, it's impossible to go directly from an undergrad program, graduate, and enter the MAOL program without a gap. You typically need to skip a session, starting MAOL no earlier than 8 weeks after you finish undergrad classes. That isn't a technical requirement, it's just the way timing works out.

So in that context, I asked if I could start MAOL immediately after my undergrad session, as a NDS. The answer was yes. And, everything is the same, except that you cannot apply for graduation at any point that session. That is, you can't "upgrade" to degree-seeking after your degree is conferred, even if it's during the session.

However, you pay the same amount, and other than applying for graduation, everything else works the same way, with no special limit on how many classes you can take.

I do not know, but I would guess, that similar logic would apply to YP undergrad, so that may be helpful for the OP or for some other specific situations.

Weird, missed this thread the first time around... I highly suggest trying this NDS option and see if you can get all the classes you need for residency purposes after you've transferred in the max 90+ that can go towards the degree. And if you need to decide on classes, you may also want to see if taking 3-4 of the ones that can go towards the MAOL in the future as well...

Eventually (several weeks later.) I was contacted by UMPI and able to just... add classes by emailing someone random! A bunch of my mainestreet stuff was broken, too, but  a few trouble tickets later and yes, you can take THREE classes simulatenously for the same price and skip the long transfer process.

Enrolling in classes to get my GPA up, currently looking at POS 101, Marxism, and Hist of Infectious disease. Any reccomendations for a bookish social sciency person for quick easy A classes?

Let me know if you have any questions!

Can you or anyone else please confirm if we can enroll into more courses as we complete first three. I read somewhere on the Application Form its maximum three for the term. That got me confused. I am trying to complete like 6-7 Upper Level Accounting Courses in a single term if possible. I don't need a degree just the accounting credits.

Thank you.

From the current YourPace non-degree enrollment form:

Quote:Please submit information for desired courses. Please note that Non-Degree seeking students may initially only enroll for up to THREE courses (9 credits).

*Note: YourPace students are permitted to add courses throughout the 8 week term following initial enrollment directly through the YourPace team.

To be clear, UMPI only has 8 actual Upper Division Accounting Courses in the entire YourPace platform and they are not the best format. Are you need accounting coursework to meet CPA qualifications?

znra9s9g0@mozmail.com - It's great you're asking questions and providing a bit of details, but we don't have the full picture of what is needed. That's why you have helpful members such as turbotortuga asking why or what is the purpose of these credits for... If non-degree-enrollment is what you're looking at to get the credits, having just 3 is a waste of your energy, money, time. Why not apply to UMPI to reap the benefits of completing more than 3 classes, get the credits, don't finish the degree, and send your transcripts to whatever place that needs the credits?

I misread it. It does say initially. So its still up to you how many you finish. I was considering degree enrollment if it was limiting as I was thinking. I already have an undergrad (engineering) and a Masters (finance field). And now I just want to check course boxes for my state's CPA board. I have already signed up for Fall and they signed me for three of those courses that I need. No prerequisite issue or any other fuss like the community colleges here I was trying. I will update my experience once I start at UMPI.

Yes. I think I need 10 total (30 credits) plus 1 Business Law (BUS 350). My other option is WGU (7 courses) or CPAcredits.com ($675 per course of 3 credits)  or Community Colleges (cheapest ~$475 per course and 6 course max) . I don't care about the learning part that much. If I speed run these at UMPI it would be most efficient $$ wise and I have time only until nov. By Jan, busy Tax season at my work won't give me any time schooling. Plan to be able to sit for CPA exams in 2026 summer.

You will need to confirm that you will be able to graduate at the conclusion of the term as you not a degree seeking student. That could be an issue.
