Northern Arizona University Launches Competency-Based Online Degree Program
#61
How about slow, expensive, and poorly regarded. I have a few in mind but don't want to insult anyone.

IHE published a story about NAU's PL. It might clear up some questions here: Northern Arizona University's new competency-based degrees and transcripts | Inside Higher Ed

NAU Personalized Learning now accepts financial aid! I had a lovely conversation with their rep yesterday. There's no application fees, it's a flat $2500 for 6 months, no matter how many credits you complete.

In the conversation I had w their rep my understanding is that they break down the courses/competencies into smaller sections. Each section you can pre-test out of by scoring, I believe she said, an 86% or better. If not, you go into the course and take the lesson and then take the post test. If you do not complete the post-test w an 86% or better you need to repeat go back and study again until you're prepared for the test. Also, all books/required texts are included and made available online as well.

I sent over my unofficial transcripts yesterday and they said I should hear back from them by the end of the week. Also, she said they do accept ACE credits, but how that is applied to the program requirements is yet to be seen.

Here's the course catalog for the Small Business Administration BA:          Northern Arizona University | Standard Page
Computer Information Technology:          Northern Arizona University | Standard Page
Liberal Arts:          Northern Arizona University | Standard Page

A couple points worth noting that came up: You can join this program with no credits to transfer in. All the Gen Eds required by this program are available through it and, from what I've been told, can be tested out of as I described above. Because these are all BA programs that they offer, there is a foreign language requirement. There is also a 'minor' requirement, but it is waived if you already have an Associate's.

If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to report back as I move forward.
