Maybe it is becuse I love Boston and have never been to Chicago, but my vote would be BU.
My question is what is the difference in cost and scholarships offered. I would think both are very expensive. So the next question is how much more is he expecting to make with a degree from a well know school without reputaion in his field, then if he went to a cheaper less known school with a decent reputation in the field.

I think Boston is much prettier and academically inspiring town. I would tell him to go to BU inna heartbeat if BU was at least a better school than Northwestern. But at BU he could cross register at MIT, network with other people at Harvard. His program is in city planning which is not top ranked but from what I hear, all the urban planning students mingle with other planning students at MIT and Harvard where the planning programs there are top notch. They basically all join the same regional planning associations.
At Northwestern, the school is tops but the program is so-so. It's in Chicago, not Evanston so he'll have the city at his disposal but I just dont see Chicago as rewarding as Boston academically. |
