I took this this morning and agree with Zippy's comments. Sometimes I had no clue what the passage was about until I read the answers and they gave suggested meanings. Don't be afraid of this test - if you don't have a clue about the passage read the answers and see which of those answers actually clarifies the passage for you. At the end of the tunnel lie 6 beautiful credits!

THE TEST
I just took this this afternoon and scored a 75, my highest score yet. It is worth six credits, guys, so I would highly recommend this to anyone trying for quick, easy elective hours. I almost ran out of time. I read each piece through at least once before I answered the questions, but now I think it would have been wiser to read the questions first b/c I had a hard time with the time (80 questions, 90 minutes so a little over a minute per question....which to me wasn't a lot considering the length and depth of passages.......poetry can be so dang confusing.) It *is* what it sounds like: you read passages of poetry, prose and drama and answer questions about the passages. The only thing you can study is like types of speech and poetry so when they ask what line X is an example of, you can say "metaphor" or you know what "syntax" means or what a "sonnet" is or on my test they had an example of onomatopia or howeveryouspellthat. If you are weak on analyzing literature, know the terms cold so you can ensure you get all those questions right (b/c unlike subjective analyzation, you can nail those).
WHAT I STUDIED
I stuied about three hours last night using only REA'S book for this test - basically skimmed the overview at the beginning to brush up on types of poetry and some terms, which WERE helpful. I read over those terms one more time before I took it today. This test would be hard if you don't like literature or you are not well-read. Most of my friends say this is the easiest of all the tests out there, though, and few if any study for it.
LAST WORDS OF ADVICE
The more tests you take, the better test-taker you will become, but remember when you get that cold feeling after you read through all the possible answers b/c you don't think ANY are right, think about if YOU wrote the test. Think about which of those answers would be one of the things they would hope we students would know. And, like others have said above, look for the meaning in the answers. I read this poem about flowers fading yellow and then black, then these bulls or lions or something fighting on fields and then a fox with soft fur.....I had no idea what the heck it was about until I noticed three of the answers had "soldiers" in the answer and I realized it was about soldiers. I went back three questions to change all my answers! So here is a hint: if you have no idea of the answer, look for similarities in the answer and choose from among those. Often the right answer is disguiesed by subtle similarities.
