Please help - getting a BA in Criminal Justice
#11
Hello all,

Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy with my classes. Now that it's spring break, I have time to study for DSST and CLEP exams. I've subscribed to instant cert and I'm currently studying Intro to Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.

I appreciate all your replies - thank you. I decided to go ahead and enroll now with TESC because if I wait to enroll like I originally planned, then I won't make the deadline for the September graduation. I'd have to wait for the December one. I do have around 33 credits from a foreign university but I didn't want to have them evaluated because the grades aren't that great. hehe But now I just want to finish my degree so I'm going to have the transcript evaluated and sent to TESC. Maybe TESC will credit some courses towards the Gen Ed.

HawkGuy - I am going into the Army but I haven't signed a contract yet. Thanks for the advice on the Gen Eds! I am still trying to decide what exam to take. Smile

originalbigjim - Thanks! That's good to know that DLI gives credits for the language training. Maybe I can get a second bachelor's degree later in foreign languages after (or if!) I graduate DLI.

Runner4064 - That's great to know! I live in Hawaii and am not used to the cold.. I hope Monterey doesn't get too cold during the winter! I'm not sure what you mean by target language? Do you mean what language am I going to be trained in? I do not know yet because I haven't really signed a contract yet with the Army. My recruiter is working on getting me a slot for the MOS 35W.

entreelink - Thanks!Smile

patsym - Sorry, I didn't take it yet. I read the Criminal Justice/Intro to Law Enforcement thread and there are lots of helpful tips on there.

ShotoJuku - Yes, I've looked at the cost factors. Charter Oak charges $247 per credit so I didn't look into it much. Excelsior is expensive for me too and I looked at their requirements for the bachelors in CJ and they require a lot of upper level credit. Plus, if I enroll at Excelsior then I would have to pay for my FEMA credits to be converted at FCC so I decided to go with TESC.Smile
