Hi all,
I received the transfer credit report for my BA in Psychology, long story short, I spoke to my advisor and I need 13 classes. 5 of them are gen-eds as my English courses counted as electives. The other ones were Sociology, Critical Thinking and French/Spanish which I'm working on. I managed to get 4 Psych classes worth of UL courses transferred as well as the LL requirements, leaving me with 5 more UL electives as well as the required Psychobiology and Research Methods class as well as Cognition. If I take Social and Abnormal Psych through Study, that would leave me with 6 Psych courses to do at UMPI.
Initially my plan was to knock the list down to 10 courses and complete the Psych BA, this is where I thought I'd add a minor in, I'd prefer something Business related, so I was looking at the Business Administration minor for example. The business courses I took transferred in as Business electives, so none of them can be used, unless one of the minor requires general business electives.
The required courses are:
BUS 101 - Introduction to Business - Transfer available
BUS 150 - Introduction to Financial Accounting - Transfer available
BUS 125 - Introduction to Business Computing or Bus 200 - Intermediate Business Computing - No transfer as far as I'm aware, to be taken at UMPI.
ECO 207 - Macro and Micro Economics - Transfer available
PCJ 215 - Business Communication - Transfer available
PCJ 315 - Professional Communication OR Mat 140 - Mathematics for Business - No transfer available, Calculus l doesn't count.
My question is, if I take those 4 business classes at UMPI and transfer 2 of them in, that would fulfill the residency requrement of 10 courses. While satisfying the 12 credit and 9 UL credit requirement for the Psych BA. Is this still possible to do? I checked the UMPI minors wiki but it stated that most of those plans are out of date. Are the business classes difficult or long? Would I be overloading myself just to add a minor? I'm aware that the Psych classes are long and a lot of reading, and sometimes people don't finish in one session but I think the 4 Psych elective transfers will help me out in that aspect. I'm still trying to finish in one session but I was brainstorming this possible path if it still ends up being 10 courses overall.
Thanks!
