Psychology of Women TECEP

Hello Everyone,
I am down to my last exam. Does anyone have any new insights on the complexity of this exam? I was wondering if using cram101 would be a safe avenue. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank You!!

Wish I could help with the insights but I'm just getting started on this testing out idea.

I just ordered the Matlin text to read over prior to taking the Psychology of women TECEP. Of all the TECEP practice tests they have on the tesc web site this is the one I did the best on. It seemed like common sense .....Whereas the practice tests for a few of psy/soc/sos TECEP's on the site in my opinion, had some stuff no one needs to know. Maybe I'm just annoyed that I didn't know the answers. Big Grin

I hope they update update the TECEP's periodically.

Sounds like you did the smart thing and saved an easy one for last! Good luck to you!

I am planning to be the TECEP queen here in a few more weeks after completing about 7 of them in a very short timespan. It is frustrating that there doesn't seem to be any official or unofficial study guides for the TECEP's. Reading the text book is a tough haul when there could be questions from any of the 500+ pages. There is an outdated unofficial TESC website where several people posted that the TECEP Psych of Women was not too tough though.

I took this one last week, and can say that if you are a woman, mother, and feminist, much of the the subject matter will probably seem like common sense; if you've worked in a 'traditionally male-dominated industry', even more of it will echo true. I've taken 9 Psych tests so far and this one seemed the easiest, but then again, I fit all of the categories noted above. I also read the entire Matlin text and compared a couple of the real chapters with Cram101's version of the same chapters. I would not suggest using Cram101 as a substitute for the text; they have defined keywords from the text, but have not captured the author's overall meaning, and the test follows the text pretty well.

Thank you everyone for your posts. I feel like I saved the best for last, but maybe its spending almost $500 that makes me nervous. I am reading through the book and it does seem like common sense. The parts that worries me is if I have to know all the research and results, etc of all the different tests. If anyone has anything to add please feel free. Thank you again.

By now you've probably taken it and passed it iwannapass! I took it last weeek. My test didn't ask any obscure specifics about research results. Some developmental questions, cultural differences, sociology, psych/gender differences in the treatment of women at work, nothing hard.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I haven't taken my exam yet. I plan to take it on Tuesday. I just finished reading the book, so now I am going to go over everything and basically note the differences between the genders. I hope this is enough for me to pass. My eyes started crossing with all the percentages, so hopefully it won't come back to bite me on the exam.

Hey iwannapass! I took a break from the forums and didn't get your pm until today. Maybe you're just nervous b/c this is your last test for your bachelor's degree.

btw.........Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin

Judging from the other tough tests you've passed you should do well. In answer to your questions, no my test didn't ask for any specific statistics and yes imo a lot of the test was common sense. For prep I read over an old (4th) edition of the Matlin book and concentrated on the definitions, sociology, cultural and psych studies. Maybe the fact that I was born in the 70's when feminism and the study of gender inequities was all over the air waves helped. To paraphrase a joke from my pm bud 'YokotaJo'...If you can remember the Helen Reddy song "I am woman", this test won't be hard to pass.

You'll be so happy when this last test for your BA is behind you. Congrats on being so close to the finish line!

Hey Everyone,
Thank you so much for your encouragement....the day is near. I will be taking the exam Friday morning. I can't tell you the butterflies in my stomach right now. I think I am going to be okay, unless they ask me statistical questions which I have been reassured doesn't exist. Say your prayers and keep your fingers crossed for me as this is my last exam for my BA. THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT through this tough road!!!!
