Hi, all! Me, again.

Since NAP pointed out that the History BA from TESC doesn't necessarily follow the same credit distribution requirements for the area of study as the Liberal Studies degree, I have been looking into some alternative routes to the one I had roughly sketched out.

Original plan:

I think I may be able to use at least 3 of the history CLEPs (100-level at TESC) in my area of study now. That's opposed to the 2 that I thought was the limit. That's good, though now I'm trying to consider how to get another 3-6 social science credits. (Yeah, I know, shouldn't be too hard; I just haven't really looked into it yet.)

I still don't see how I'm going to be able to completely test out, but that's okay. I never thought I'd be able to get every single credit through tests. So, I'm currently still planning on taking that War and American Society TESC 6-credit course that CLEP101 recommended. (That is, unless someone can encourage me to take the American Dream ECE by saying that it was easy and definitely counted as an UL history credit at TESC...)

I guess I've got 2 questions, which will probably lead to a few more:

I just looked at the "examination titles" for Introductory Sociology and Social Sciences and History, and noticed that each is under "Soc-101-CE." I'm guessing this means that I have duplicate credits there? Has anyone ever used both tests towards their degree? If so, does anyone have any recommendation for easy social science CLEP/DSSTs?

The other question is about the World Conflicts since 1900 ECE. I'm going to suppose that ECEs are considerably more difficult than CLEPs and DSSTs. That doesn't bother me as long as this is a test with a similar format to CLEP/DSST (read: multiple choice and no essay questions). Also, from everything I can gather, I'm going to have to go somewhere other than my accustomed testing center to take this test. Are my assumptions correct?

Thanks in advance for the input. I'm still a ways from enrolling at TESC, so having y'all give me an "unofficial evaluation" to keep me on track is invaluable!

Intro to psychology was fun for me. I liked learning it and if you enjoy somethin then it is easy.


Organizational behavior is upper level and wan't bad at all.
Just read a book on it, do some flashcards and take the test. I did have management and psychology under my belt.

Honestly for me, all the social science clep/dsst tests are "easy" with adequate preparation. I never recommend IC flashcards only though.

Well, I don't care for psychology myself, but I've read that it is generally considered easy. I'll probably end up taking it; maybe it won't end up being as bad as I'm fearing.

I was wondering if you had confirmation from TESC that they would accept the second portion of the College Mathematics CLEP 6 credits towards the Natural Sciences 9 credit requriement. I only had an academic evaluation done at TESC from my prior college credits before I took the CLEP College Mathematics and I was wondering for myself if they would place 3 of the credits in Math and 3 in Natural Sciences as you wrote on your plan. I didn't officially enroll yet, but when I called TESC, I was told that the Natural Sciences 9 credits would have to be in science and not math. That didn't exactly sound correct to me since the TESC guidelines for Math and Sciences show that you could interchange. Good luck on your path, it looks like you've gotten a lot done.

You've had World Conflicts confirmed as an upper level history credit?

I haven't had anything confirmed; I've not even done an evaluation yet. I just took degree plans other TESC history majors from on here kindly sent me and personalized them. On one of them, their college math credits were split, which is why I have it that way. I'll be really surprised (until the cynic in me kicks in) if they don't accept the college math this way. However, others on here are certainly more qualified to answer this than me.

Ahhhh!!! TESC must have changed these, the max 100-level requirement is taken out of the CJ degree too!!!!! *parties*

Laura...I didn't have the World Conflicts official confirmed as upper level credit from TESC, but was told by an advisor on the phone that it would work. I am hoping that is accurate. By the way, I just had a message from a very reliable forum member who confirmed that the Math can be split as you have it marked down. I am thrilled that this is so because Science is not my favorite subject and 3 less credits would be welcomed for sure. I know what you mean about the Soviet Union...it is tough. I go through the flashcards and I feel like I am retaining almost nothing

Math and Natural Science is one area, so it won't be split- it will be in there together. What the split part means is that you couldn't do all math or all science, it needs to be split between -and include both- subjects. (the other areas are like this too- see social science, you can't have all psychology for instance) 3 math is the minimum.

I sure hope it's accurate too! I think I'd much rather take the ECE than the Ohio U exams I was originally contemplating.

Glad you got that sorted out! I am in full agreement with you on both the science and Soviet Union points! I haven't started the Soviet Union flashcards yet, but I am reading The Soviet Colossus in the hopes that I won't be totally overwhelmed when I do start them in a day or two.

BTW, as far as science goes, Astronomy wasn't bad. I managed it after studying for 3 days.
