:ack::ack::ack: I thought most of SL's courses were open book but as luck would have it as soon as I sign up, BOOM! Closed book
 Anyone taken sociology with SL??? Any words of advice??

You might try a different browser (Chrome, etc). SL on IE, at least in my experience, is awful.
