#1
Hey guys -- I did some searching but no luck so far.  Has anyone found an equivalent course to SOS 110?

There is none. You must take that course directly from TESU. It is one of the two courses required to earn a degree from TESU regardless of transfer credits.

If your catalog is prior to (June?) 2019 then yes, LIS 102 or LIT 291 from study.com or Info Literacy from Davar.

For 2018, 2019 you can get by with the old cornerstone completed. If you're on the 2019A and above, you're stuck with the new SOS110 and it will not transfer in. Check your academic evaluation year in your programs list under OSS.

I am pretty sure that this changed in mid to late 2018 as TESU transitioned into the 2019 academic year (2019A catalog). For anyone on the 2018 or earlier catalog or the early 2019 catalog before this went into effect, then you may have options.

Either way, it should in your academic evaluation in the portal if you look in the area after the GE Electives section.
  • If it still shows TES-100 as the cornerstone course then you're on the old catalog and should be able to transfer in an information literacy course in lieu of SOS-110. They don't offer TES-100 any longer though so I assume that it is automatically waived for everyone on the older catalogs now.
  • If it shows SOS-110 as the cornerstone course, then you're likely on the 2019A or newer catalog and are required to take SOS-110.
Or as BJ said, you should also be able to check your academic evaluation year in your programs list under OSS.

I was on the 2019 catalog. and I was told if you had a catalog that had TES-100 but didn't complete TES-100 by the time they got rid of it you had to take sos-110.

I could be wrong but I thought at this point the only way to get out of sos-110 is a 2nd degree, you already took tes-100, or you are on a really old catalog with no cornerstone or got it waived through the old sdc deal. If your catalog requires tes-100 but you didn't take it now you have to do sos-110. Could be wrong but that's how it was worded in the portal back then. Contact tesu if you're in this boat.
