Schools that offer more credit than others for a course. Transfer issues?
#1
So I'm still looking to enroll at Hodges for their CBL program. I know transfers from CBL programs can be a bit sketchy as it is. I just realized something though when I was looking at their catalog.

Hodges gives 4 credits for most of their courses, such as 4 credits for Introduction to Computing, and English 1101. What happens if you decided to transfer to another school and that school's catalog showed 3 credits for those courses? Would your transcript stand? Or would your credits likely be downgraded to 3? They don't use a quarter hour system or anything like that if that comes to mind, Semester Hour is listed on their catalog.

It's really up to the receiving school. English 101 is almost universally 3 credits, so I'd be SHOCKED if someone awarded 4. If you're 100% sure they are not on the quarter system, then my money would be on them being "downgraded" to 3 upon a transfer. There is nothing wrong with attending somewhere that uses different units, but maybe just be sure you're sure before you enroll.

After reading the catalog, the schoolis on a "trimester" schedule with three 15 week periods. the bachelor programs are your usual 120 credits. the courses are about 4 lecture hours per week for 15 weeks, which they equate to 4 credits per course. they award the clep recommended sh (3) and dont give an extra hr. There are no guarantees, but there may be a compelling argument to convince the transfer school to award 4 credits since the student is doing extra work.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.
