They must have changed their policy on the assignments a few months ago. I did the final a month ago now and although I passed, they haven't given me my final grade on it. I've submitted 1 of the 3 assignments now. I will have to submit the other 2 before I get a final grade and 'pass' the class.

I completed it in Dec of 2017 so if they changed it, it was very recently. This month I completed another UL Study.com course without doing 1 of the 2 required papers because my grade was high enough to pass without it
If i were you I would check your math and see if you really had a high enough grade without the other 2 papers. my guess (and i could be wrong) is that you don't, and you'll need to bump up your quiz score or turn in 1 more. I did one awhile back where I did well on the quizzes and got a B on the final and really bombed the first paper I turned in so it wasn't good enough and I had to do another one. Could be that
Either way, I've completed 4 or 5 Study.com courses without doing all of the "required" essays. They're on my ACE transcript, and on my TESU and COSC transcripts too. So, I dunno what else to say about it.

Who knows. I rushed the course and got B grades pretty much all the way around, still had to do all three assignments.

I have 99/100 for all the quizzes which leaves me with needing 56% on final and papers to pass. Assignment #2 35/40. I passed the final in the mid-80s but the email said they will not post the final until I have turned in all 3 papers. I am building assignment #1 from my paper. Then to slog thru the second paper.

I got a 99/100 on the quizzes and a 89/100 on the final. So it is confirmed that all three assignments need to be submitted for a grade? I would like to just do assignment one and two. Another research paper (1500-2000 words) is too much, I think.

I went ahead and did all three assignments. The first, research proposal I spent a day on, submitted and got 60%. The essay based on that I spent about a day on and got an 80%. The final essay I was running VERY short on time so I threw something together in about 2 hours that was only 500 words. I figured better than nothing. I got a 55% on that one. I also made a couple small fixes to the first one and resubmitted and it became a 90%. I like writing but I've never been a fan of essays like that where I have to pick between their generic topics.

I wrote my essays with a copy of the grading rubric on hand. It tells you exactly what they're looking for.

Then you would really hate the English Comp II TECEP or the English Comp CLEP. Same thing, with no rewrites.

But those are shorter essays. Not 1500-2000 words. I feel like we should only have to do one research proposal and one research paper.

Unfortunately, you don't get to decide how the course is set up. It would be nice if that was the case though!
