BA in Liberal Studies CS and NSM Concentration Questions

BALS-NSM requires 18 upper level credits, if you're going for CS/CIS classes and transferring them all in, you can do this with an additional cheapie from Lawshelf to finish off the 18 required credits. It goes like this...

So the main difference switching from the BALS CS to the BA in CS means taking Calculus I, Discrete Mathematics and taking a total of 30 credits in Computer Science/CIS related courses instead of just 18.

Pretty much, The BA In CS requires Calculus I, Discrete Mathematics, Operating Systems which isn't required for the BALS CS (Sample Plan from wiki) and when I took Computer Architecture from SDC, it was before they added the second assignment so it was pretty tough. Personally, I felt Calculus I (from SDC) was a lot harder than Computer Architecture and had I tried to earn credit for Calculus (prior to attempting to earn credit for Computer Architecture) I would have graduated with a BALS-NSM instead, but since I earned credit for Computer Architecture before Calculus in my case it was worth obtaining the additional required courses to get a BA in CS (but Calculus drained any enjoyment I had in Math and in hindsight I probably would have graduated quicker with the BALS-CS instead), but everyone is different.  

4B. Is almost everyone taking the same UL courses from Study.com for a BA in CS? What do you recommend for the 5th UL course?

4B. I took CMP-3540 Network Technology (TECEP) from TESU, CLD-4200 Architecting Cloud Solutions could also work via the Coursera IBM Full Stack Software Developer Professional Certificate but IMHO it isn't worth the amount of time and effort to complete it for just the 5th UL course. I would recommend SAS Advanced Programmer Professional Certificate via Coursera instead (note that as of right now the ACE credit expires towards the end of April of this year) which comes in as STA-399 Special Topics in Statistics and would work for the BALS-NSM, BALS-CS or the BA in CS.

5. For the BALS NSM do the 15 UL courses have to be in the 18 credit Concentration or can they include courses in the "24 Credits of Liberal Studies Courses"?

I can't fully recall if the required 15 UL courses (+3 UL from the Capstone) have to be from the 18 credit concentration or if they can include courses in the credits of liberal studies for the BALS NSM or BALS CS. However, @bjcheung77 suggestion for the cheapie from Lawshelf is another possibility for 4B for BALS-NSM, BALS-CS or the BA in CS.

I agree and do not think doing an entire cert is worth it for only one class (3) worth of credits. So far we have the following options for the 5th UL course to transfer in..

ASU - CIS-394 Online Cloud Architecture ($450)
TESU - CMP-3540 Network Technology ($231) (TECEP) 
Lawshelf - GOV-202 Basics of Environmental Law ($60)

4C. Does anyone know what Computer Science 307: Software Engineering from SDC is currently transferring in as UL or LL to TESU?
