Hello,
I'm looking for a course that will satisfy the communication theory requirement in the BA Communication degree from TESU.
I'd prefer if it was online and CBE.
Thanks!

Here's the description of COM-100 Communication Theory at TESU:
This course surveys the current body of communication theory literature. Students examine theories applied in the study of mass media and human communication. Communication theories pertain to interpersonal, group, and mass communication, and therefore provide a framework for analyzing media texts and the everyday experience of human communication.
So, I think I'd try to ask them if one of these specific courses would fulfill the requirement for this:
Saylor: COMM001: Principles of Human Communication
Study.com: COM 102: Interpersonal Communication
CSU-Global CBE: Interpersonal Communication, Mass Communication, Mass Communication and Society
There is no other way to find this out but to ask them directly.

Another option might be to get a BALS and a Communications Undergrad Cert. Not sure if all of those courses can be gotten inexpensively, but that Comm Theory course isn't required.

I've already asked them if the Saylor course and the Study.com satisfies the requirement and they don't.
Also, this communication theory course is the last of three courses for my BA degree, so I would really like to get them. I'm going to ask if the Interpersonal Communication and Mass Communication from CSU-Global will satisfy it.
Do you know of any other courses?

This thread (

I'd suggest getting syllabi for different CBEs and sending it in for evaluation.

Did you start any of those courses or can they be taken as CBE?

I actually ended up taking it through a community college. CBEs might be an option, but that would require more research. I'd suggest starting out by asking CSU for the Foundations of Strategic Communication syllabus and sending it in to TESU for evaluation. There may also be other CBEs that would work better.
Another option you could consider would be to explore the community colleges in your state and see if they offer an online communication theory course.

I'm not living in the US, so I can't really explore the community college option, I think?
