Study.com vs STRAIGHTERLINE right forum oops

Me too.

sanantone Wrote:I know you can read the transcripts to Study.com videos, but those are not good substitutes for textbooks. The information is very disjointed as if you're reading flashcards. I'd rather just read through the InstantCert flashcards, take one test, and be done with it. I also feel that Study.com wastes an inordinate amount of time on quizzing. Really, you're learning to answer quiz questions and not getting the full breadth and context of a subject.

Oh, I like most of the writing on Study.com (transcripts) and most of the quiz questions. The only thing I don't like is some of the repetitiveness. However, I like that it helps me remember the key concepts. It's only because I want to go faster that I dislike it.

I understand that some people have test anxiety. They either need to find a way to get through it or hope that they don't have to take tests later in life. Just about every test outside of college courses is timed: certification/licensing, pre-employment, graduate admissions tests, etc. I had to take five or six timed tests to get my current job.

Wow.

It does seem excessive to have all the quizzes be timed, though. Some people can handle the occasional timed exam, but prefer to not be doing it for days.

I think I prefer timed quizzes, because they usually make them trickier and harder when they're not timed.

When you take classes on campus, other than an occasional take-home exam, all quizzes and exams are timed. Colleges don't have enough space to let students take all day.
