I'm ordering a tassel from amazon. since UMPI doesn't have anymore. I'm unsure if I want cap and gown, cause I dunno what I'd do with it lmao. I have  2 classes waiting for grades and then I get my degree conferred!!

The Campus Store is out of the tassels? That's surprising since folks will be graduating through December. 

I only have the cap and gown because I was planning on going to Maine to participate in Commencement. I took some pics wearing it and wore while watching the virtual commencement live. Your Commencement won't be until May 2022. You'll get your diploma long before then! If you finish your degree this term which ends in July, you'll probably have it by the end of August - probably before they start the on campus Fall Semester. It gets mailed to you with the diploma case (not a frame), student copy of official transcripts, and the tassel. Yeah the tassel did not come with the cap and gown. That did not come from UMPI. It came directly from the cap & gown company. So you may want to hold off on buying the tassel unless you want 2. LOL They were like $3.25 at the Campus Store. They have a nice frame for the diploma too, but you have to wait for them to reopen to order it. You can shop online when they reopen. I ordered the frame, a travel cup, and some sweatshirts. Need my UMPI swag. I can't wait for the UMPI Alumni stuff to be restocked for homecoming in September. Oh once you graduate you'll also automatically become an UMPI Alumni for life for FREE!!!! Seriously there are no Alumni Association fees.

I worked ridiculously hard for many years to finally finish my bachelor's degree so I wanted the full bells and whistles. LOL I took pictures at the lake I live off of with my cap & gown on holding the diploma case. I even brought my gold cord for graduating Summa cum Laude. I earned it! 

Some schools charge hundreds of dollars every year for their alumni association. Some are more active than others. It also depends on how close by you are to campus if you'll get much out of it. I'm thrilled to be an alumni! I'm super excited to become an LSU alumni as well this fall. I'll be collecting those tassels and diplomas now! Then I'm off to grad school. I have 2 for associate degrees but they were never really exciting. Might be because of how much work went into my bachelor's degree. Lot of papers!

I graduated pierpont on the 7th, but that was like ehh, who cares. This is a whole other level of excitement!!!  Did you do another bachelors with LSU? and where are you going for grad school?

You should be on Dean's List with your GPA for the Summer Semester. We're still waiting on our letters for the Spring Semester. There's a lag of like 2 months with them. It's a nice thing to receive. The Dean's List will also be noted on your transcripts. As will the Latin Honors which I think is pretty cool. I earned that 4.0! It was a LOT of effort. Soooo many LONG papers and projects to get that. I really thought I was going to lose my 4.0 with Spanish and the Computer Programming for Managers classes, but somehow I got A's in those classes. It was so stressful! LOL

We didn't get the stoles. They have had them in the past for Commencement. There's photos of them walking across the quad with them. If you any of participate in Commencement next year, we'll probably get them then. 

I'm completing a Post Baccalaureate Certificate at LSU through their online program. I could stay for grad school and continue in the program, but I won't stay. I'm looking at East Carolina University and Rochester Institute for Technology (RIT) for grad school. Both programs are online. I was leaning towards RIT, but ECU has a program that really caters to exactly what I want to do....and besides who doesn't want to go to the ocean when they graduate? LOL I am hoping to go to Louisiana for Commencement in December. So far it will be an in person event so I really want to go since my bachelor's degree was a virtual one which just wasn't the same. It was nice don't get me wrong, but there's just something about doing the walk across campus and across the stage. It's just different.

Make sure your degree from UMPI is conferred asap and afterward UMPI transcripts sent over to WGU through the National Student Clearing House. WGU will need to complete the degree evaluation BEFORE June 15 if you plan on starting on July 1.

This term ends July 2nd. From my experience, degrees are not conferred until after the term has ended. The process takes about a month to be completed after the term ends. So I'm not sure how getting the degree conferred by June 15th is even possible. Have you spoken to Jessica about this? She told me that my degree wouldn't conferred until after the term was completed and the process takes about a month. Mine took a little less time because it was completed Spring Term 1 before the Registrar was working through the May graduates and Jessica asked them to try to rush it because I was planning on enrolling in the MAOL and my degree needed to confer before I could start. Definitely check all of this out with Jessica. She's out of the office right now from what I understand.

I didn't realize you are part of the summer term. It's going to be extremely, extremely difficult to start WGU on July 1.

1. Professors usually don't post grades until after the term is over.
2. The degree is conferred after the term is complete AND, ALL grades are posted in MaineStreet.
3. The term ends July 2 and grades are usually not posted until the following week July 9 but can be longer, then degree conferral from the registrar's office can take several weeks, maybe week of July 23.
4. WGU will take a week or longer for the transcript evaluation, week of August 2.

5. Based on this info, it looks like September 1 will be the start date at WGU.
6. The exception, if you can get all professors to post grades now and get the registrar's office to confer the degree before the term is officially over. Everything would need to happen by next week.
7. Besides talking with Jessica, you may also need to talk with the registrar's office because they handle the actual degree conferral.
