TEEX to Acclaim/Credly

Hmmm maybe the $10 form would explain my other thread I just posted. I did send it in once only to make sure the death investigation course was timestamped for them to honor the badge which was issued after March 1st. That would explain why the same courses suddenly show up as CEU rather than ACE despite the fact they have all been already applied to degree. Does it mean I should not worry after all?

I've had an ACE account for a few years and the free TEEX cybersecurity courses are posted to Credly. In the past few weeks, I knocked out the other online TEEX courses carrying ACE credit. I used the same email address for my ACE and TEEX accounts. No new badges for the new stuff.

I pinged TEEX eight days ago. Still no new badges.

What's the usual timeline on new completions making it from TEEX to Credly?

Hmm, if it's 4-8 days or even up to a couple of weeks, that doesn't seem too bad for getting your TEEX credits in. I would still recommend them for the FREE and Paid options they currently have for credits, essentially because those credits are cheap/easy/fast and can be used for general education/free electives or even the area of study depending on the degree and school...

Are we supposed to get the overall Cybersececurity 101, 201, 301 badges in credly or just the individual class badges? I had to email multiple people multiple times and just got the individual badges but not the overall cybersecurity course badges and I don't know if that is a problem or not?

They gave me all the individual badges after I asked and waited. No cyber 101, 201, or 301. Unsure how schools will take these credits now.

As an aside, it seems that the free TEEX cybersecurity courses are reaching the end of their lives. The content and technology are about a decade out of date at this point. Due to the demise of Flash player, some of the interactive pieces no longer work. Also, I'm noticing that many of the cybersecurity facts and recommendations are no longer consistent with current practice. Everyone should finish these courses up before they retire.

As an aside, it seems that the free TEEX cybersecurity courses are reaching the end of their lives. The content and technology are about a decade out of date at this point. Due to the demise of Flash player, some of the interactive pieces no longer work. Also, I'm noticing that many of the cybersecurity facts and recommendations are no longer consistent with current practice. Everyone should finish these courses up before they retire.

Same for me...I do note that with the individual badges the credit hours all add up to 12 instead of 10 for the cyber 101, 201, and 301. I guess we will see how that works out down the road, I am presently aiming for the BOG AAS from Pierpont but am certainly a ways away at present. I honestly laughed out loud at a few points doing these courses, some of the information is quite dated and I did find it entertaining. I would agree, get them done while you can, unless someone at TEEX is willing to go in and do a complete overhaul of the content I cannot imagine that they will remain as ACE credit courses for too terribly long with such old content.

When a school accepts ACE credit, they generally know to go look at the ACE National Guide to see what the courses are worth on the date you completed them.  When you look up TEEX, it tells you what the courses are that make up Cybersecurity for Everyone for instance.  Here's what it says: "Students must complete TEEX-0277, TEEX-0278, and TEEX-0279 to receive credit for this course."  So if your badges are for those course numbers, the registrar should be able to figure out what to give you (4cr in this instance).

You can always point them to the page to show them where to get the info if they have questions.

https://www.acenet.edu/National-Guide/Pa...0d3a33232a for example states "Students who request a credit recommendation for TEEX-0277 cannot receive a credit recommendation for TEEX-0250". It looks similar for the other individual courses, implying you either get the full Cyber 101, 201 etc or you get each individual course with their associated credit recommendations, but not both, which of course makes sense as you should not get doubled up credit recommendations. I'm not really sure that it actually matters so long as the school in question accepts the ACE credits. The only difference I see is possibly a difference in 2 credit hours, but I think I would plan for it to all transfer in as the usual combined 10 rather than 12 credits the individual courses seem to add up to.
