TESC BA in Natural Sciences/Mathematics

dfrecore Wrote:Bad news - add English Comp II, as the CLEP now only counts for English Comp I. Take the TECEP, it's not too bad.
I thought that was just the modular. I'm pretty sure the regular CLEP College Composition (w/ essay) still counts for all 6 ENG credits you'd need. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Do you know if they'll count in the Area of Study for BSBA CIS?

From the beginning, they told me that Cloud Computing and Information Systems Analysis and Design would count toward the CIS specialization and that still seems to be the case.

Right. I think the confusion came in earlier this year when they down-graded some CLEP exams. One of them was the CC Modular which was downgraded from 6 to 3 credits. The regular College Comp is still recommended for 6 credit hours.

Ah, I guess I was getting that confused. So they count as CIS for Area of Study, but not for Natural Science?

A member here got Information Systems Analysis and Design and Information and Information Systems Design and Management approved as natural sciences, but I don't know if any of that has changed. I'm 99% positive that Information Systems Analysis and Design still counts as a natural science.

I think this goes to show that my advice was correct - get it in writing before you take a course/exam!! Obviously for those that have a long history (CLEP, DSST, SL, etc.) you don't have to worry, but especially for new courses and exams, this is important.

Thanks for the follow-up.

Just updating on where I netted out with TESC. Have to reapply, so now fall under 2016 GenEd requirements. Couldn't get answers re: CompSci counting toward NatSci - told I had to talk to advisor once enrolled. So right now studying for American Gov't CLEP since that sounds like I have to take that no matter what, then it's on to the TECEP composition exams. Thanks again for all the advice. Hoping to get this all wrapped up in the next few months.

Hi everyone, any ideas on where the 6 TEEX credits would be placed in the BA Natural Science and Mathematics? Thanks in advance!

They won't be in the area of study.

Thanks Sanantone, was unsure as it says on TESU's website that computer science counts as a natural science in the area of study concentration:

" Note: The following areas are considered natural sciences/mathematics and may be used as a subject area in the concentration: biology, computer science, geology, physics, chemistry, environmental science, mathematics."
