This post will serve two purposes, one to give a review of the class, the 2nd to rant on the ridiculousness of this class.
This course is needed for the BS Homeland Security degree at TESC, and one I'm taking at the school to assist in meeting residency requirements so I don't have to pay the enrollment fee as I'm enrolled under MDCP.
I highly suggest that anyone needing this course for the degree find ANYWHERE else to take this course, the course load is way too much. The course is divided into 6 modules each lasting two weeks. As with most online courses each module requires a discussion topic posting and 2 well developed responses to classmates. An open book essay response quiz is also given every module and a written assignment/essay (no official word count, but must be well developed) must also be turned in. Prior to completing all above tasks the assigned reading must be completed. There are two textbooks for the course and the assigned reading is an average of 9 chapters per module from both texts, with each chapter being an average of 40 pages. The final is a 15 page paper on a pre-assigned prompt.
I have taken many online and butt in seat courses both upper and lower level in colleges/universities, but I have never EVER seen anything close to the course load that this course has thrown on me. I have been spending every second of my time outside of work just completing the reading for this class, that's just reading that's not completing the assigned course work or studying for the quizzes, not to mention the 2nd TESC course that I'm taking that has a much more reasonable course load.
Any suggestions on how to approach time management, I'm drowning and need these are my 2 of my last 4 classes I need to graduate.
