TESC Psych BA Degree Plan (mainly electives advice needed)
#1
This is what I have so far. (Haven't taken the Research Theories/Experimental Psych ECE yet but I will shortly) Am I putting all of my classes in the right sections? What should I do to accomodate the rest of the courses I need? It looks like I need a few more Psych classes and some general free electives. I'm thinking of taking Intro to Socialogy CLEP this fall to cover one free elective. I'd like to test out of as mcuh of this as possible. Any suggestions? For the record, (SC) represents classes taken at a local public State College. All of these course are standard 3 semester hour courses except the Biology CLEP obviously (My SC counted it as 8 Credits since there were labs. Does TESC count it as 8 or the standard 6?)

So any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've listed all testing, ALEKS, and Straighterline possibilities here.

TESC gives 6 credits for the biology CLEP. I noticed that some community colleges give 8.

Fantastic list, thank you.

Am I putting all of my classes in the right categories? Also, in your opinion, which is the easiest Statistics option (I planned on taking it at the state college but if there's a test-out that's doable, I may go that route. Keep in mind, I'm terrible at math.

I have no experience with any of the statistics options. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Thank you. One question though: TESC implies that 18 of the 21 credits have to be UL. Do they count the CLEP Educational Psych as UL? It's normally described as a lower level test. I've got the HG&D CLEP, and I've heard conflicting reports on whether TESC's Developmental Psychology (which that CLEP is equivilant to) is a UL course desptie the CLEP being LL. Anyone have a firm answer on that?

The CLEP Introduction to Educational Psychology is mapped as PSY230-CE according to this excellent resource.
BA in Natural Sciences/Mathematics, 2013 - TESC - Arnold Fletcher Award
AAS in Applied Computer Studies, 2013 - TESC
116 B&M Credits
32 FEMA Credits
9 ALEKS Credits - Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry
9 Straighterline Credits - Business Communication, Microeconomics, English Composition II
6 TESC Credits - Global Environmental Change
3 DSST Credits - Environment and Humanity

I can assure you it is lower level because I took the test and used it toward my social science degree. Any test that is not designated as UL on my list is LL. I don't like directing people to the degree planners list because it is outdated and has a lot of business options missing for those interested in the BSBA. It is best to look at the TESC website. The only thing they have wrong on there is that Fundamentals of Counseling has been counted as an UL psychology course instead of a LL human services course. Otherwise, the school's website is the most accurate and up-to-date resource.

Thanks. On a side note, when tranfering in CLEP credits, CLEP charges a fee to send them to othe schools. Do they charge that fee PER test or is it one-time for an entire "transcript" of CLEP scores?
#9
When you start a test, you can choose to have the score sent to TESC for free. If you don't, then you have to order a CLEP transcript later on. They only charge one fee per transcript with all of the tests you choose to have on that transcript.

Yeah when I took CLEPs I had the results sent to the school I was at at the time. Good to know that they will only charge me once when I transfer them.
