I know a local community college here has an online speech class too. Pensacola State College (
http://www.pjc.edu/). I've looked into it but didn't take it. You record your speeches and submit them from what I gather.

I just passed this course yesterday. It took me 2 weeks. Does anyone know how long it will take for my transcript to show up? I'm trying to send it in to receive my CCAF.

Out of curiosity, since I need to take this for COSC as well, and had been considering the DSST... does this come across with a letter grade on the transcript from BYU or is it just a pass/fail credit?
Thanks!

I will take the BYU class because I can work it as fast or as slow as I want in my own time. Yes I give presentations infront of groups/classes but I know the subject and can talk "off the cuff". I would have no prior knowledge of the topic for my speech and that would make me uncomfortable. Also I would have a good idea of how I did in the course while I was working on it. I have heard that it can take up to 8 weeks to get a grade on the DSST and graders can be difficult.

The transcript that I received from BYU had a letter grade on it. Personally, I chose to take the class because of the convenience and the ability to go at my own pace. I'm not against the DSST, but the reviews that I read about said exam weren't favorable at the time (1 year ago). The course itself wasn't difficult and I was able to both complete it and have my grade in 1 1/2 weeks. You're able to turn in multiple assignments at a time, too! Also, during this time I had taken the old school English Comp w/ Essay and was already dealing with the post-test-did-I-pass? anxiety and was not looking forward to doing that again. It's a matter of preference! The DSST is cheaper, but if you're looking for a course, then BYU is a great value for your money.

Just FYI in case you weren't already aware: closeout for CCAF Fall graduation is the last Friday in August. Your transcripts have to be in the center by that date to graduate in October.
