Greetings!
I used this forum years ago to get my BA in Psych from TESU and then again a couple years ago to help my daughter do the same.
Now my son wants to start....
We were looking at the BA in Liberal Studies from TESU (seems a bit more flexible than Psych) but then, when I came back here for updated info, I found info on UMPI.
Now my head is spinning. Does anyone have input on which school is currently easier to transfer things into? cheaper in the long run?
I saw the 6month BABA at UMPI but I dont think he'd like the business and math courses ---he's more into psych/soc, etc.
THANK YOU!!

At this time, UMPI doesn't have a degree or courses in psych. They do have a BLS which is a bachelor of liberal studies. There are 5 minors to choose from:
Education Studies
Accounting
Management Information Systems
Management
Project Management
He will have to complete math courses for pretty much every school out there. Sophia makes math courses significantly easier than being stuck in a classroom for 15 weeks. He could take psych and soc classes outside of UMPI and transfer them into the BLS. He would still need to complete one fo the 5 minors though. They also offer a bachelor's in history & poli sci if he's interested in either one of those. Does he have a career goal?

Oh bummer. I read this: "
Several concentrations are available in addition to the General concentration, each aiming to provide workable guidelines for students interested in Business, Communication, Creative Writing, Education, or Social Science." and thought that he could do a "General Concentration" and focus on social science courses.
If he has to stick to one of the 5 minors then TESU Lib Studies would be better.
THANK YOU for the info!

It looks like you're reading the on campus UMPI website not the online YourPace website.

He could complete a minor from the list of on campus minors, but he would need to complete them through ACE credits. UMPI has let some students transfer in one of their minors. It's not a really common thing, but it has been done. If he were to go this route, I would get courses completed and ready to transfer ASAP in case their change their mind.

The psych minor would be challenging to complete as you're ACE options are limited for the required courses.

Same for the soc minor.

There is a social studies minor which is more generic so it may be easier to find ACE courses to fill these requirements. Soc and psych are included in the options for this minor.

@CM1999, how young is your son? Is he starting at getting his first credits or does he already have some ACE/CLEP? It depends, if he's got the energy, money, time, then I would go the Excelsior/TESU route and slowly getting the credits he wants through ACE/CLEP sources. If he wants it done the cheap, easy, fast route and has no commitments, then UMPI would be the best option also using ACE/CLEP sources to transfer... Did he take AP/IB in high school or dual enrollment? Does he know a language other than English?
