TESU Academic Evaluation & Maximum Transfer Credits

To my way of thinking, 30 RA credit minimum ≠ 90 credit maximum. If I understand you correctly there is no Regionally Accredited requirement. The only true requirement is to take SOS-1100 and LIB-4950 at TESU and have 120 credits. Is this right?

Think of it like this...you need 30 US RA credits and/or foreign equivalents  (6 of these credits are the SOS-1100 and the TESU Capstone)

30 credit RA minimum is a shorthand here on the forum: TESU categorically does not accept NA credits. More students might be confused/led astray if they thought they could use UoPeople or Newlane University credits at TESU. It's also useful for reminding people to get the RA (or RA-equivalent) credits first so they can plan the rest of their degree.

That said, if you read the pages linked above, it's generally more complicated than just 120 credits outright. You cannot transfer in more than 90 credits from 2-year college sources, for example. You cannot bring in more than 90 foreign credits. Unless the credits from from another 4-year university, there is a limit of 90 credits from a single source.

Things like this are why we simplify on the forum to the less confusing "minimum 30 RA (or equivalent) credits + ACE/NCCRS + capstone/cornerstone".
In progress:

@bradonomics, Steven is an associate director. He's not wrong, you need 30 RA but not 100% correct either as he hasn't taken the foreign equivalent as an option (after a foreign credential evaluation from a NACES member has confirmed it is equivalent to US RA). As per the two quotes I have above, that's how it would work. For reference, review post #5 of this current thread...

Let's try coming at this from a different angle. If I transferred 90 ACE credits, 24 foreign university credits, and took SOS-1100 and LIB-4950 at TESU, for a total of 120 credits,  I could graduate, right?

Provided everything slots properly - yes, as long as the 24 foreign credits are accepted as RA from the evaluation. Can confirm from my own plan at TESU.

Yes and no. In essence, Yes if your courses go into the exact slots, or no if you're missing any of the requirements for the degree. Not everyone takes the exact courses for transfer, many people have slightly less or slightly more credits and they fill the void with ACE/NCCRS.

How would I know if my credits are "accepted as RA from the evaluation?" The credits on my degree plan in Online Student Services are listed with "Foreign Institutional Credit" and "Transfer Equivalency."

If they appear there, then they were accepted by TESU. I added that phrasing because sometimes they will not accept certain courses - for example, some courses may be considered as developmental.

The possibility of doing all depends on whether you meet the requirements with the combo of credits that you have. The feedback that you need 30 RA credits is a cut/dry requirement and 6 of those are met via the SOS and Capstone credits.

This ^ - Key statement being 'Provided everything slots properly'.  What this means is, let's say you transfer in as you listed above but there is no 'US History' and your particular degree requires 'US History' then you're going to still need those 3 credits of US History from somewhere (meaning you're going to have to transfer another 3 credits - ACE most likely, as whatever you 'bump' out will most certainly come from the elective slot). People more often complete with more than 120 credits vs that perfect 120 needed - that is because most don't plan/complete everything 100% perfect. In this made up example, you thought your existing 'History of the Americas' would fit in 'US History' but when it was evaluated after transfer it did not (ah, turns out it was because it was all about the countries that make up 'the Americas' vs just the 'US' - according to my fake course syllabus)   Smile

That's right, your best right now is to get everything you have evaluated and then you can pdf/screenshot your evaluation (without your personal details at the top), save that to your google/one drive and link us to it. Make the file viewable/not editable and either a senior member or moderator can comment on your remaining classes. Generally, you want to follow the recommended providers on the WIKI, such as Sophia.org for Lower Level and Study.com Upper Level credits...
