Yeah I'm confident (I guess..lol)! I've been programming microcontrollers for years in C, and in my free time I work with ROS and C++, I think I'll manage a C in the data structures. well hopefully!

I am skeptical though because even though I'm fluent with C and some C++ the limitations placed on you by the courses are pretty weird. Like the straighterline C++, in about 4 hrs I reached to the mid term section and as of up to the midterm I'm at 90%, which is terrible because it was pretty basic stuff. Some of the questions on the exams were confusing. and the book wasn't preparation at all for the programming assignments, If I din't already have some knowledge, I would have totally failed or not been able to complete the assignments. If the data structures from TESU is anything like that, idk what I'll do.

I like Java, it's very easy to work with! But I have more practical working knowledge with C so C++ is the path I'll choose only for that reason.

If you have a choice choose Java! It's so much easier to work with.

@bjcheung77 yeah I checked out your spreadsheets! Thanks a lot, it's only cause of your help I was able to make a plan!

@dfrecore thanks! I wonder about the prereqs though.

Thanks. I am more interested in Java for sure, but SL seems a good deal easier, faster, and cheaper than a community college course. However, then I might be lost in Intermediate C++ or C++ Data Structures. Probably Java for me.

I have yet to find a school that won't let you take a course because of prereqs if you can show that you can handle the course.  With the right math and computer background, you should be able to take the course.  It's worth a shot!

But if you need to take a Discrete Structures course (the prereq), here you go: http://www.mathprep.com/course/discrete-...e-ome.html $728

You absolutely do not have to do computer architecture or operating systems, you can pick any other UL CS electives. However, cheap, online, UL computer science courses are a little difficult to find, that's why those are in the spreadsheet. Also, I think that anyone who intends to make their living programming computers really NEEDS computer architecture. I wouldn't skip it unless it's because you already know the subject and would find it boring.

It looks like Study.com takes PayPal. Would that be an option to get your membership going?

@davewill No study.com will NOT accept my paypal. I tired again today. It keeps asking me to enter a card on paypal. I then went to Udemy and bought a course to make sure everything was okay and it worked. So I guess study.com just dosen't like me.  Sad

I may contact them at the end of the month, to find out what's the issue.

@davewill and I already know computer architecture and enjoy it, that along with robotics and embedded systems are my specialty actually   Big Grin   I enjoy hacking around with processors on FPGAs, this year I made my own and posted it on github. if I could get a job doing that I would take it in the morning! It's solely cost for me.

My son is working on his Associate's in Computer Science.
CAP and CMP courses DO NOT count toward Computer Science.
You need courses TESU designates with a CIS or COS prefix.

These courses will not count toward CS AoS:
HTML=CAP-280
TECEP Network Technology=CMP-354
PF COBOL (Intro course)=CAP-160?
TEEX Cyber101 Computer Security (for Everyone) (AWR-175-W) TESU Intro Sec Basics=CAP-295
TEEX Cyber201 Computer Security for IT Prof (AWR-173-W) TESU Network Security=CAP-385

These courses will count toward CS AoS:
TEEX Cyber301 Cybersecurity for Business Professionals (TESU Computer Sec)=CIS-244
DSST Fundamentals of Cybersecurity=CIS-344 (UL)
(Duplicates TEEX Cyber301)

Study.com Bus104: Info Sys & Computer App=CIS-102

DSST Computing & Info Tech OR CLEP Info Sys OR Study.com Bus109: Intro Computing=COS-101

SL Information Technology Fundamentals=CIS-107

Saylor OR DSST OR ed4credit - Management Information Systems=CIS-301 (UL)

CSU Global System Analysis and Design=CIS-344?? (UL) - need to find out how it transfers into TESU

Saylor Software Engineering=CIS 351 (UL)
*Saylor course not easy to learn from

SL Intro to programming in C++=COS-213 SL

From TESU PLA Database: (courses to find)

Interesting. I didn't realize the CIS courses also work. I thought only COS. Huh. Thanks.

I think only some CIS counts, but I'm not sure. CIS is so broad.

Yeah, I don't expect CIS-102 or CIS-107 to work, and maybe not System Analysis and Design (CIS-320), either. When I asked for UL CS courses, these were the only CIS courses that advising identified:

Management Information Systems (CIS-301)

Database Management (CIS-311)

Software Engineering (CIS-351)

That doesn't mean absolutely no others will work or that CIS courses from elsewhere might not work. The important thing is to make sure you have your AOS courses planned into your academic eval before you take them.
