TESU - Keeping Active Student status
#1
Hello guys,

I have been busy recently and while I have completed quite a few courses and started Linear Algebra with Coopersmith a couple of month ago (and kind of stopped working on it but started again just recently) I completely forgot that I have not enrolled for a course with TESU so, technically, I am not a student or not an active student(?) Last year, when I first enrolled I did not have to sign up for the Medical Terminology (?) because I was offered some courses for free which allowed me to be an active student and have unlimited transcript evaluations (which I used quite a bit as I took a few courses with Study.com).

Now, I think I should have enrolled for another course to keep my status active a couple of month ago but I did not. Can I still do it? Am I still a student or do I have to re-apply again? I hope the former is the case and if it is I will take the Medcial Terminology course (as soon as I can log into my account as I have been having massive issues lately).

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @legenwait4itdary,

if I were in your situation, I'd first check my current student status by checking my university ID card. You didn't mention when exactly you enrolled (which date precisely, you just said "Last year, when I first enrolled").
This card displays "Valid Until" date.
I assume this is the date that pretty much indicates whether you're an active student or not. Did you or did you not register for any of those free courses ("I was offered some courses for free which allowed me to be an active student")? As far as I know, you get enrolled student status when you register for a course (which indicates you will take it in the near future). I'm not sure what you mean by "I was offered some courses." Are you talking about the TECEP scholarship granting 2 free TECEPs in the past?

However, you can't access the university ID card data via the regular "MyProgress dashboard".
You can access it (and other services) via "access myedison experience" (https://www.tesu.edu/info-for/current-st...ervice.php , the big yellow button).
Bear in mind that you need to use your TESU email. Thus: yourFirstName.YourLastName@students.tesu.edu. The PW is the same as for all other things TESU-related.
After login, you see a tile with the title "University ID Card." Click on it, and you have all the data.

Depending on this data, maybe your "enrolled" status is about to expire. If this is the case, you may register for any TECEP exam (most users here recommend Medical Terminology - cause it's the least expensive, but you can also choose any other). Additionally, take into account TESU's policies in terms of TECEP exams, https://www.tesu.edu/admissions/methods-...licies.php

If your enrolled student status has expired (valid until date expired), then I'd talk to admissions and clarify how to re-enroll.

Check animuscerebri's recommendation first. If your enrollment is recent, you can usually just enroll into a TECEP not taken before or into a course to reactivate your status, and it becomes active again the following month around the 10th.

How many classes do you have remaining? If you just have the cornerstone/capstone combo left, I would take the classes one at a time or both together to finish off the degree. There wouldn't be a need to keep the status active. If you still have a few classes left and you need to have the active account, you can take a TECEP even if it overwrites a class you currently have transferred from ACE/NCCRS course providers.

Thank you for all the responses.

In the past I took 2 TECEPs (not Medical Terminology so I can still take this one I suppose?) - they were free qt that time.

I cannot see my student ID in MyEdison. Maybe because my status expired? - after I sent this my student ID came up. Valid Until 2026-03-2016.

I still have a few courses to take so probably Med Terminology is the best option for me.

My main question is, do you think that even if I do not see my StudentID if I register for a TECEP will I still be an active student and able to submit transcripts for credit transfers?

If you're able to register for a TECEP, that should do the trick. If you can't, then you'll have to work with admissions/advising to get reenrolled. I seem to remember some sort of grace period to be able to stay on the same catalog even after your enrollment lapses.

Hello again,

So, I can register for this course:

APS-1000-TE100: Medical Terminology
Registered, but not started
Credits: 1 Credits
Grading: Graded
Instructor: Ota Office of Test Admin
6/2/2025 to 8/24/2025
Time: TBD
Location: Ops*205/870-8122 TBD

Is this the correct one? It says it is until August but if I remember correctly it will allow me to have unlimited transcript evaluations for a year?

Don't confuse the two. You register for a TECEP exam regarding a specific term. In this case, your term is from June to August, which is a typical TESU term. This is the time you have to take the exam. However, a TESU term doesn't equate to your enrolment time at TESU. You get enrolled for another year as soon as you register for a TECEP exam (or any other course).

Thank you. Is it still the case that if I do not take the exam I can enroll for the same course next year?
