TESU Liberal Arts Degree; What Study courses to take
#1
I got this degree plan for a Liberal Arts B.A. from a TESU degree advisor back in '22, so please let me know if anything has changed. I have an A.A. in Liberal Arts from SUNY Empire.

Sophia Courses:
  • Environmental Science (Completed)
  • Visual Communications (Completed)
  • Art History II (Completed)
  • Introduction to Ethics (Completed)
  • English Composition II
  • Public Speaking
These were the suggested Study.com Courses, of which I need 5; one must fulfill the Civic Engagement category
  • Business 313: Organizational Communication (TESU course COM-391)
  • Business 324: Managerial Communication
  • Business 305: Leadership Communication
  • History 306: The American Civil War
  • History 311: The Holocaust
  • History 308: Causes and Effects of the Vietnam War
  • Psychology 310: Psychology of Personality
  • Psychology 312: History and Systems of Psychology
  • English 305: Advanced Technical Writing
  • English 301: Non-Western Literature
  • Sociology 305: Sociology of Work
  • Business 323: Organizational Theory (TESU course PSY-360)

And finally, the TESU Courses:
  • SOS-110 (Critical Information Literacy)
  • LIB-495 Liberal Arts Capstone
Which of these Study.com courses are recommended as the easiest/quickest? I want to avoid as much writing as I can. Also, how long would this degree plan take approximately? Thank you.

I would recommend the ones highlighted in red bold...  Basically, you'll have overlapping course material from the communications classes and should be able to complete these easier and faster.  You want to make sure your enrollment is active, as it's already 2 years after 2022...

You can do lifespan development at Sophia but everything else should be the best path.

Is Lifespan Development required for the degree? The advisor didn't list that one but I'd be happy to take it.

It's not required, it's an example or recommendation as some people decide to take it as an elective, if you have a Sophia.org subscription, you may want to max the credits there first before moving over to Study.com, if you want to get a discount with Study.com, you can always use my discount code within my bio or signature.

I believe that is only for the psychology concentration.

Okay, I just finished my academic eval with an advisor, and unlike in 2022 he said he can't directly tell me which courses satisfy which requirements unless I email academic advising to confirm..

I'm struggling to figure out what UL Study.com course will fulfill my civic engagement requirement. The only one that is showing up on Study.com's equivalency search and TESU's student portal is Criminal Justice 305: The Juvenile Justice System.

Are there any other UL courses on Study.com that fulfill this requirement?

Thank you!

Criminal Justice 305 The Juvenile Justice System comes in as CRJ-3630 American Juvenile Justice System and it should work for that according to the TESU website: https://www.tesu.edu/degrees-programs/co...bce59636-2

No other options from Study appear there as upper level.

Confusing because I was just told on the phone that my Intro to Ethics from Sophia would count for my Ethical Leadership requirement, but it's not on the website either.. last time I was advised in 2022 the advisor sent me a ton of Study classes that could fulfill the requirement and did not mention CRJ-3630. I will email them.

Only the classes offered by TESU are listed, which is why Intro to Ethics applies but is not listed.

Question for you: Why does this class need to be upper level? There's a few options on both Sophia and Study that fulfill the requirement and are lower-level.
