TESU exceptions for reqs

Anyone have any experience with these?

https://www.amu.apus.edu/academic/resour...ry.ma.html

Not independent study, but their 8 week sessions certainly fit my time constraints.

The linear algebra course is not calculus based.

Let me clarify: potentially taking something else they offer to make up the UL gap.

Maybe Math history preapproved to the TESU equivalent?

If you are looking to quickly and easily finish off natsci/math with anything UL in the AOS, pass the MIS DSST to get TESU CIS-301 before the test content change on 4/1. As usual, get it preapproved.

You can take the DSST now and decide later if you want to graduate ASAP.

Good tip. It certainly wouldn't hurt to have that in store as a back up.

I'm shooting off an email to TESU now about approvals on the APUS courses. It looks like APUS uses MyMathLab for the assignments in some of their math courses. I did stats that way locally and really liked the format.

The MIS DSST also works to backfill the missing 1 UL credit for a 2 UL credit math course.

There are plenty of resources in IC for passing prior to 4/1. The IC resources are "on target" for this exam, if you get my drift.

I'd take it now and use it as insurance.

The 2sh UND course would leave me short one Math AOS UL credit. I'd be fine for UL credits in Nat Sci AOS.

Taking a second look at the Athabasca linear algebra sequence, it appears the courses aren't offered at present. Evidently, it's been "under revision" since 08/25/2015. It is expected back "spring 2016."

Out of pure curiosity, I have a second inquiry in to TESU about how they would treat a linear algebra transfer that does not have a calculus prerequisite.

Good lord, sending emails to TESU is an exercise in frustration!

I sent this email:

Quote:I'm wondering about transfer equivalencies for the following:

[list of names of APUS math courses with links to course description/syllabus for each]

Is it possible to know in advance how TESU will transcribe these courses, and, specifically, how they will fit the upper level area of study requirements for the Mathematics major?

Today, I received this reply:

Quote:You still need upper level credits in the Natural Sciences/Mathematics concentration however you have reached the maximum number of Math credits allowed in that area so the course from APU will not be applied to your degree requirements.

Take care.

Shame on me, I guess, for not explicitly saying: "I'm considering changing my major but my decision hinges upon being able to apply one of these courses to the new program requirements, so please ACTUALLY ANSWER MY QUESTION regardless of what my current program is."

Let's try this again...

While I certainly can understand your frustration in emailing with TESU, I understand their response as well. They figure since it is not needed in your degree plan, why take the time, which I understand. Email again and explain that you are considering changing your major and hopefully (fingers crossed) you will get an answer. :p
