Thomas Edison - Microsoft Certs - Post your course credit please
#1
If you have gotten credit for a Microsoft certification could you please post the actual courses you received for your certification(s)? I am trying to figure this out and it would be beneficial to some others as well. Thanks

Here's what I got:

MCDBA
CIS-311 Database Management (4 credits)
CAP-181 Networks (3 credits)

MCSD
CAP-206 Business Oriented Programming (4 credits)
CAP-191 Visual Basic (3 credits)

Here's what I would like to know:

MCSE 2003
- What actual courses?

MCITP: Enterprise Administrator Windows Server 2008
- What actual courses?

MCITP: Windows Server 2008 R2, Server Virtualization Administrator
- What actual courses?

Please post any other Microsoft certs in which you have gotten course credit
#2
I noticed the college catalog says 3 credits for an MCSE 2003 but ACE says 3 upper and 3 lower for a total of 6. Anyone gotten credit for MCSE? Did you get 3 or 6 credits or more? What courses were you awarded?

I spoke to TESC adviser today and found out about 5 more certs:

CMP-399 4 credits

MCITP: Server Administrator, Windows Server 2008
CIS 122 3 credits

MCITP: Database Administrator, SQL Server 2008
CIS 312 2 credits

MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator 7, Windows 7
CAP-171 2 credits

That depends on your background, intelligence, motivation, commitment to studying and willingness to purchase equipment for labbing.

Microsoft exams are difficult in part due to their wordiness and intentionally misleading questions. You'd also need to take multiple tests for one credential. For example, Enterprise Desktop Administrator is 2 tests. Enterprise Administrator is 5. Consider it would take 2-3 months of prep time per test (shorter depending on your relevant experience), and you're talking about 6+ months for just 2 credits and it'd be more time efficient to just take a class. OTOH, the certs are a better ROI for actually working in the industry.

Are you saying that you received 7 credits for each of those certs applicable to two courses, or did you have to pick one of those courses to apply credit to? If the former, then I think I found how I will be addressing my CIS credits! I have been saving those for last because I wasn't sure how to address those credits without putting my butt in a seat somewhere.
