Time to start thinking post grad, and don’t know where to start
#1
So, I found you guys towards the end of my BS degree, and so far you’ve helped me finish a BS in Nuclear Engineering Technology, pick up an AAS BOG with a business focus, and help others do similar. It’s coming up on a year since I’ve finished my BS and been running support on household stuff and kids while GF worked on hers, but I’ve been starting to get the “if you’re not moving forward you’re moving backwards” itch.
I’ve been thinking about a masters program for a bit, and scanning posts here, googling, etc info on a good program for me, but I’m a little lost and really don’t know what I don’t know. And I’m starting to think the reason I can’t seem to settle on something is because what seems “obvious” career wise doesn’t seem to line up with my interests at the moment.
Having worked in the power industry for 25 years, I always figured technical or business made sense, but I’m bored with both right now. I’ve been coaching at the middle school, and starting to think I’d enjoy something along the lines of coaching, sports, teaching, religion, or philosophy?
Thoughts? Any suggestion on a masters or grad cert program? Or even anything else that I could add to the resume and knowledge toolbox?
Also, feel free to drop any basic knowledge I should know about things like; commonly suggested schools at this level, what to look for in a program, and so on. I really don’t know a whole lot about degrees and certs above a bachelors, other than they are above a bachelors.

Do you have a budget you'd like to stick to, this is key?  It reads that it is more about the right master program vs the quickest, is this correct?

Analysis paralysis has happened to me two times in my educational journey. First was taking my random credits and using them to obtain an AS. I'm in your position now somewhat burnt out on my current career path and want to expand my possibilities in the future. BUT, I understand that if I pick something too outside the box that down the road I'll feel like my choice would be a waste.

I would look for a degree program that covers a broad spectrum of careers that has a handful of core classes, but allows you to pick your own concentration. So something like a masters in communication with a concentration in business administration. You may also look at something like an MBA and get a concentration in emerging technologies or product management/logistics management.

If I had to pick one for you to look up, ACE has a MS is Sustainable Management that might satisfy some of your objectives while giving you a degree you can use in almost any career. https://ace.edu/program/master-of-scienc...anagement/

There are so many different avenues to go... I wouldn't rush into anything, search the graduate forum and see what stands out for you. Evaluate the cost, energy, time you will need to complete the journey. Decide if Nations U MTS is acceptable in your case for the Religion/Philosophy, WGU for an Education related Masters (non-licensure or licensure path), and anything else from HAU, Amberton, etc that may interest you...

Not going to say “money is no object,” but budget is one of many factors I’m looking at. I think higher on the list is going to be flexible timeline, interest, usability, benefit. Like, for $1k I may do it for fun, but $12k I need to be able to use it as an investment.

Thank you. I’ll take a look.

Without asking anyone to put to much thought into it, to give me a good place to start browsing I’m curious about schools/programs that are known for being:
Cheaper?
Faster?
Are there any that accept Alt credits?
Fun?

Barclay College, a Christian college (Quaker) in Kansas, has an online master's degree in Sports Outreach that might be a match for you. Their website is undergoing maintenance as I'm typing this, so you might not be able to access some parts of the website, but it's worth bookmarking for later.

You might want to review the board and see if other options exist such as Kairos U and their offerings...
