Some interesting findings
1. Harvard, Yale, and MIT are not listed.
2. ASU, which is a school anybody can get into, is listed.
3. Lots of CA schools probably since they are located close to tech companies

Harvard is known for not being a tech school. Large public universities with notable computer science and engineering departments are naturally going to have a lot of representation at tech companies. ASU has a pretty good engineering department. Some of these Ivy Plus schools have small student bodies or a low number of students studying CS or engineering.
Side note: It's interesting to see that UT-Austin is on yet another list that disproves the popular notion on this forum that it's a podunk, regional university.

Most of the companies will hire within the state they're headquarters are located, so for Amazon and Microsoft, they're in Washington State. For Facebook and Google, they're in California, and therefore the state universities would be more ideal. It really depends though; these are mainly public/state universities that are listed... These are just "lists" so you can take them with a grain of salt.

You're misunderstanding the ASU.
They're talking about ASU's Ira Fulton's School of Engineering.
That engineering school is ranked among top 80 in US.
Its graduates can easily get into top tech companies right after graduation. I see Ira Fulton graduates working at VISA, Mastercard, Uber, Google, PayPal, etc ...

Obviously, way better than any of the big 3. I think Ira Fulton's BS in CS program promises quality education and employment at top tech.
If I can become a BS in CS student at ASU's Ira Fulton, I'd love to do that at anytime.. but they're too expensive.
I agree that ASU is an average school for other 'humanities' majors...

I've seen the list of tech companies from the article. They're all names we've grown up with and know well. What's it actually like to work for these companies?

Google is full of stories about what it's like to work for many of these companies. Many don't have the greatest rep as an awesome place to work. It's one thing when you're 25 but another when you're 45.

If you want to know the secret.
For many people, the goal in life is to get a job at Facebook, Google, etc, work there for a year and quit. Then for the rest of your life, you have bragging rights that you are an ex-Facebook/Google engineer. Post this all over social media. Lol.

Everyone has their own standards. We all want certain things from our jobs. I'm not a tech guy in any way and so I have no interest at all in working for these companies. I've heard stories of lots of money and crazy hours. I just don't know if it's true. People do seem to want to work for these companies but is it just the money?
