Student Remarks:
09/13/11 Students who wish to earn a second baccalaureate degree must complete
a minimum of 24 additional credits in the area of study/core beyond
the date the most recent degree was completed. Courses completed
beyond the date all prior degrees were completed will be labeled as
"NEW". The College will not award a third baccalaureate degree.

Our records indicate that you earned a Doctoral degree in Chiropratic
on 1998 from Life University.

=================================================================

09/13/11 College records indicate you have completed graduate level credits
from Life University. The College will accept a maximum of 30 s.h. of
credit from an accredited graduate program toward the requirements of
a baccalaureate or associate degree. However, please be advised that
many graduate programs will not accept graduate credits toward their
graduate degrees if those credits were applied to an undergraduate
degree. If you expect to apply the graduate credits toward a graduate
degree, you should consult the graduate school you plan to attend
before applying these credits toward your Thomas Edison State College
degree.

10/28/11 Dear Dr. DOE,

We have finally completed the update of your second degree BA/NAS as
requested. You are required under our stated policy to earn 24 NEW
CREDITS in your CORE/Major Area of Study. The area to be completed is
A: UPPER LEVEL. You have completed 11 new credits in the MAJOR Area of
Study: 8 credits in your Concentration (lower level) and 3 credits in
the Upper Level, leaving you with 13 more NEW Upper Level, (300-400
level) Natural Science credits to complete in your Major Area of Study
and 1.67 Credits to complete in your Social Sciences under your
General Education Area/C. I have highlighted everything for ease of
location.

Once you have completed the NEW credits and satisfied your Social

Science credit requirements, we will update your academic evaluation
to reflect the changes.

I hope that I have explained everything to your satisfaction. A copy
of this explanation has been emailed to you and you may view your
academic evaluation at any time by going to our website,

Wow you do have a Lot of credits. I would suggest option #1. Global Enviro Change is not a bad class if you have a basic understanding (which you obviously have) of bio and chemistry. You might find some of the topics interesting. I just warn you the guided study might be better for you. I found trying to use scientific basis for discussions in the online class often left me frustrated and talking to a brick wall. I do find that some of the topics we covered do come up in conversations.

** I forgot to mention I took the class ~ 2 yrs ago and the books and syllabus have been changed since then.

:iagree: For the current BS NS/M program I agree with Linda's feedback, option #1 looks best.

Since enrolling have you registered for access to your online student services? Under the academic evaluation link you will see the "what can I study option?" It's a drop down menu. Scroll down to BA Biology and submit, choose the current catalog and a new unofficial evaluation will load. (FYI, this is only a what if scenario, that reverts back to the original once you leave the option.) It sure seems like you are closer to the BA, Biology degree. I'm looking at the 8 new principles of bio I/II sitting under concentration B, along with the 16 credits you are currently working on...am I crazy or does that not equal 24 NEW credits that would fall under the area of study. Looks like you have the needed physics and chem courses. There is a genetics requirement that you may or may not already have but it couldn't hurt to take a look.

The great news is you are certainly very close to the finish line! Good luck!

I just completed the Global Env Change class and it was probably the easiest class I ever took in my college career. It required some decent size writing assignments but the tests were simple and so were the assignments.
I would love to see how far you are from a BA Bio degree as well. The Natural Science/Math is a great well rounded liberal arts degree but it is not as rigorous as a true major.
I don't see A&P I&II on your plan but I must have missed that. Straighterline has those classes if you want to take them for 6CR 200 level credit.

For general upper level science credit you can also take the MIS DSST Test for 300 level, the Network Technology Tecep for 300 level and the DSST Environment and Humanity for 200 level.
TESC's PLAs also can work for you.

I was originally evaluated for a BA BIO degree and switched to Nat. Sci/Math after a disappointing eval for the BIO degree. If I recall correctly, I needed Genetics/Cell Biology/Microbiology and several other courses. I remember thinking that if I had to take that many classes, I would just stick with my B&M school which would be cheaper. However, I really don't think it will make much difference which degree I get. I plan to teach and I believe the state board of education will not only look at my degree but I think I could show my additional chiropractic college classes and make a good case that I have plenty of Bio and science credits to be eligible for Alternative Certification.

I'll check with the state board of education before I make a final decision.

bogey72,

Darn, sorry to hear that as you certainly have a lot of UL Bio courses but NS/M is definitely a great substitute. I still think Global Environment would be best and CLEP either Intro to Sociology (SOC101) or DSST Fundamentals of Counseling (COU262-transcribed as PSY331).

Bricabrac, I agree that the Global Environmental Change would be best. I have sent an email to financial aid and to my advisor, so hopefully I'll get some answers from both of them and enroll as soon as I finish up the two B&M BIO classes that I am taking now.

UPDATE!!! ARGGGGGHHHH!!! My advisor is now telling me I need 10 more natural science credits in addition to the ENS-314 class. I'll update soon. I'm probably going to contact Ryoder via PM since he has already been through some of this.

Do these 10 credits have to be UL, or can they be LL? If the latter, look at the following DSST exams: Environment & Humanity, Astronomy, Physical Geology and Physical Science and ask your advisor if they will meet the requirement (they should, since they're all Nat Sci).

As for UL, I imagine that you already have pathophysiology credits. but if you don't, look at the ECE exam in that subject, and the MIS DSST, and perhaps the Network Technology TECEP and ask your advisor if they'll work for you. Additionaly, Canada's Athabasca University also offers credit-by-exam.
