Transcript evaluation - transferring RA creds into TESU
#21
@Jazzcat, which Canadian institution did you get the credits from? There are a few Canadians on board, most of them did go for the TESU BALS or BSBA due to their generous transfer credits. If your evaluated transfer credits hit the RA requirements, you just need to take the cornerstone/capstone and be done with it. I suggest either TESU BSBA CIS & ENT as an option... or you can go for UMPI BABA with a different concentration/minor combo...

EC does accept transcripts directly from a limited list of schools outside the US: https://www.excelsior.edu/wp-content/upl...tories.pdf

Interesting to note in the list you provided. Athabasca University in Canada is the first and the only major fully online school in Canada that is regionally accredited in USA (by MSCHE), hence the acceptance by EC and any other school that accepts RA. I suspect this might be the same reason many of those other institutions are on that list.

Thanks for pointing out WES cross compatibility, I don't plan on applying to EC or COSC. WES is perhaps one of the most accepted evaluators, too bad they don't have an online option for dispatching transcripts (at least they didn't last year).

We found out about this when students wanted credits from Finland (XAMK) evaluated, but Finnish schools don't even send paper transcripts these days! ACEI is the first/only evaluator that allows the students to upload XAMK's secure, digitally signed, documents to their platform instead of requiring paper documents to be sent to them.

Yes, I noticed that. It also seems that ACEI accepts transcripts sent to them via Digitary, so I'm going to find out if they'll accept a digital copy of my Canadian transcripts, which are already on record in Digitary. That would totally streamline things. I'm also interested in XAMK for the future, so I'll keep that in mind.

Thank you for the comment, sir!

I just read this footnote on the TESU site:

Within the BSBA Areas of Study, up to 50 percent of the courses in the area of study may be older than 10 years from the most current date of application to the University.

Because my credits are from over 15 years ago, it seems TESU will only accept up to 50% of them. That means I'm getting 60/120 credits at most, and I'm fairly certain my transfer credits will max out given my experience applying at UMPI. I guess I was a bit overexcited that I might get 70-80 transfer credits.

As you suggest, BSBA with [double] (concentration--well I laughed at myself post factum, how lazy am I use shorthand on keyboard) at TESU was my interest (exactly as you suggest, BSBA-CIS and something TBD) after reading the forum with older posts by you and the community here. And while I would prefer BSBA in the title, it's not going to make a big difference in my usage of it. UMPI BABA [double] might be the best for me because of their generous transfer credit allocation and potentially cheaper price. It seems like I can get a [double] with 30 ACE credits and 30 credits at UMPI. Too bad, because I really do like the larger variety of concentrations offered by TESU. I'll have to consider how many more courses I need to do and if it will be worth it. It it's an additional ten courses compared to UMPI, probably not. I'm not sure if I'd even want to do an extra 5 courses. UMPI is giving me some pretty generous credits for upper level specialisation courses, so I might just have to focus on general business/electives in the end, which will be easier.

That said, I still have to work out the full plan for completing a [double] at UMPI, but this was a TESU thread so I'll stop my commenting there. I'll make a thread in the UMPI forum once I confirm that is indeed my best option forward. The bonus at TESU is the ability to do most of the work out of band (outside TESU) and just transfer in for capstone and graduation. That itself might make it worthwhile.

@jazzcat, that 50% you're referring to for the AOS is just that, the AOS only is 18 credits total, not the entire professional business requirements. You can transfer in everything for both AOS, such as BSBA CIS & Entrepreneurship - if your credits are too old, you can take a few Davar Academy and Study.com courses to make up the requirements.

Ah!! It's in the details and I just glossed over that. Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, not too bad since AOS is only 18 credits. I wouldn't even mind if it was 30. It doesn't seem like I'll get many transfer credits for AOS at TESU anyway, based on my own arm chair assessment. We will find out.
