Good on President Rice! People get mad because individuals with years of experience (often in those specific program) are able to accelerate through the course work. On top of that, I feel as though many individuals don't shop around enough for affordable degrees that are also equally advantageous and reflective of their knowledge and experiences. Haters gonna hate.

I have nothing but good things to say about UMPI. Yes, they have made some degrees a minimum 2-3 session degree which is fair considering the sessions are only 8 weeks.

I am going to start Fall 1 for Cybersecurity (it starts Fall 2 but I need a head start) and because I got my degree from UM-Farmington (Public Policy) I don't qualify for having satisfied all gen-eds with a 2nd degree at UMPI Yourpace. So I have about 3-4 classes I am going to take to fulfill those (not offered on Sophia) and then I will knock out the Supply Chain Management minor Fall 1 and begin Cybersecurity when it launches in Fall 2. I am expecting to have to take Fall I, Fall II and Spring I. I pay out of pocket but I don't want to rush through this degree.

From the current UMPI catalog, General Education page:

Quote:Students entering the University of Maine at Presque Isle as degree seekers who have a completed baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution will receive transfer credit for their previous degree work and will be exempt from meeting the specific requirements of the GEC. This does not exempt them from program requirements; it does exempt them from Placement Testing.

OMG you just saved me so much time and money! Thank you. I guess I will just do the Supply Chain Management minor and I think I can do about 4 Cybersecurity classes or Fall 1 that are taught in the BABA program. Then I can begin Cybersecurity major Fall 2 with some Cybersecurity classes in the program done already. This website is so full of great info and people!
