UPDATE:
The answers I received by e-mail today from UMPI:
"
Quote:Hi ,
Thank you for reaching out! I can confirm the bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is currently in development for UMPI’s YourPace program.
While the degree is not currently available, the time spent developing the degree program helps ensure graduates are equipped with the practical and technical skills needed to succeed in a variety of tech careers.
I encourage you to stay connected with us for updates on the program’s progress. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our current offerings, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you,
UMPI YourPace Admissions"
My second e-mail message:
Hello!
Another doubt:
If the BS Computer Science degree becomes available in YourPace format, would students be required to complete the Science Requirements (BIO 112 and ENV 308 - GIS) at UMPI, or can these be transferred from other ACE providers?
Also, which concentration would be available in the YourPace format: Software Development or Information and Data Management, or both?
The Answer:
Quote:Those are great questions! We do not yet have information about potential concentrations for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science that is currently in development for the YourPace program.
While Admissions cannot determine which specific credits will transfer, there will be more information available about the requirements for the degree once it has been announced.
Thank you,
UMPI YourPace Admissions

I mean, if you know how to program in Python before you take UMPI's course in programming in Python (for example only; nobody get hung up on Python here please), the UMPI course will go a lot quicker.
Thanks for your insights—that’s exactly the kind of perspective I was hoping to hear. You’re right, the most practical strategy is to focus on completing all general education and distribution requirements first, rather than trying to anticipate exact course-to-course matches for the future BS Computer Science YourPace curriculum at UMPI.
Since there’s no official confirmation on the course lineup yet, the best we can do is use existing UMPI degrees and similar programs as reference points to prepare. For example, if SQL, Python, or Java are commonly found in the current on-campus CS major or the Information Systems YourPace, it makes sense to start learning those skills now—even if the actual UMPI course later requires Java instead of Python, the underlying programming knowledge will still help accelerate your progress when you enroll.
I also agree it’s wise to choose ACE and online courses that are widely accepted at multiple universities, like WGU or TESU. That way, if the YourPace BS Computer Science at UMPI isn’t launched soon, students won’t lose time or money—the credits will still be useful for other competency-based bachelor’s degrees with flexible transfer policies.
Thanks for helping to refine the strategy. I’ll keep tracking degree outlines and transfer news and update here as soon as I hear anything official from UMPI.
We have a detailed post about UMPI BLS Management Information Systems Degree Plan in the wiki:

Are you using ChatGPT or similar to write your responses? They have an unusual amount of bolding and formality for this board.
I bold the phrases by myself the parts I think are more important to read.
ChatGPT believes that too.

The program hasn't even been solidified yet. How would admissions know what transfers in advance? Give them time to announce it, in the mean time, if you need an CS degree, UoP is available
