UMPI English degree planning
#1
The following are the 19 courses that I need to complete a UMPI degree in English/Communications/Journalism.

Is this the most efficient way to get these credits?

How does UMPI My Pace work? is registration ongoing throughout a semester? Do you sign up for multiple classes at a time, or just one at a time? Does this look like it could be completed in 1 or 2 sessions? I will be a full time student, not working, no other big obligations until I finish school.

UMPI: 39 credits
 1. BUS 240: Change Management
 2. ENG 211: Introduction to Creative Writing
 3. ENG 259: Contemporary World Literature
 4. PCJ 180: Introduction to Professional Communication & Journalism
 5. ENG 241: Enlightenment and the Rise of Anglo-American Literatures & Cultures
 6. ENG 242: Modern & Contemporary Anglo-American Literatures & Cultures
 7. ENG 391: Studies in the English Language
 8. ART 108: Graphic Design
 9. PCJ 214: Magazine and Feature Writing
10. PCJ 315: Professional Communication
11. PCJ 316: Advanced Professional Communication (prerequisite PCJ 315 or bus communication)
12. PCJ 396: Field Experience Practicum (prerequisite: permission from instructor)
13. PCJ 400: Communication Capstone (prerequisite: permission from instructor)

STUDY.COM: 6 credits
14. ENG 121: College Composition II (for UMPI ENG 121 English Comp II)
15. Business 209 Mentoring & Ldshp Dev in the Workplace (3) (for UMPI BUS 260 Leadership)

SOPHIA:  13 credits
16. HIST 1020 American Government (3) (for POS 101 UMPI)
17. HUMBIO 1001 Human Biology (4) (for BIO 103 Human Biology at UMPI)
18. PHIL 1002 Intro to Ethics (3) (for PHI 152 at UMPI)
19. Business Communications (3) (for PCJ 215 at UMPI)

Registration for YourPace sessions needs to be confirmed something like 2-3 weeks before the current session ends. It's not (always) automatic. I think some students have forgotten to confirm and didn't get access to the next session. Some didn't confirm and remained enrolled for the next session, IIRC. Always remember to confirm, just to be safe.

You can have up to two YourPace classes active at once. When you submit your final, you can ask for a third one to be opened up.

It's theoretically possible that you could finish in 1 or 2 sessions. Other students have obtained other degrees in 1 or 2 sessions. However, I believe 2-3 sessions is more likely. There is a small chance it could run to 4 sessions, but if you're doing UMPI full time, I think that's relatively unlikely.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

YourPace is exactly that, you got at a comfy self-paced style of learning to make sure you complete the requirements of the classes. It's best to complete the Sophia.org and Study.com classes before you start your session at UMPI, you do not want to have multiple subscriptions open, so complete Sophia.org first, then Study.com, and lastly, work on your UMPI classes. You should gauge how comfy you're going to guess the speed it will take you to complete a class at UMPI. UMPI classes aren't easy/hard per say, it's similar to Sohpia.org/Study.com classes with assignments or touchstones.

In Progress: UoPeople BS Health Science

Completed: UMPI BAS & MAOL (2025)
TESU ASNSM Biology, BSBA (ACBSP Accredited 2017)
