US History I, any thoughts?
#1
I'm signed up the take the clep us history 1 this saturday. I'm a highschool senior and i took AP history my junior year and was one point shy from passing.. probably because of the 3 essays that test requires. I've been reviewing instacert and i'm about to crack open a rea study guide. All the material is generally a review/refresher for me. How difficult could it be to pass??? Are these questions insanely specific, or fairly general questions. I have a review sheet of about 100 issues in us history 1 curriculum and the majority of them seem pretty familar. anyone have any thoughts/suggestions for me?

I used the REA guides and instacert exclusively for both the History I and History II CLEP exams and found them very adequate resources for passing both of these exams. I found that, as a rule, using at least one other resource along with instacert for my exams was a good tactic for passing the proficiency exams. Good luck in your pursuit!

well.. the results are in! i scored a 54!! Man i was so pumped.. i was not going to spend an entire semester in a history classroom listening to things i already knew. WHEW! thank you clep. I used instacert flashcards and REA History 1 Clep study guide.. i only read about 90 pages in the guide (out of 150) and i did all of the sections of flash cards several times, and once just before i took the test. all in all i studied probably 6-8 hours over a one week period.

EXCELLENT!!
Listen, since you took the AP exam, you already covered the US History 2 material in school. My suggestion is to spend this week in review and take the US History 2 exam later this week. It's another 3 credits. Then of course, I highly suggest picking up the REA Social Science and History book- slam through the review of co-topics and you'll have another 6 before the end of 2007.
I am completely serious- you already did the AP course, and had you passed, you wouldn't have been able to nab the 12 credits you can have this way. This exam won't be any trouble for you. Consider 12 credits in 14 days as a nice Christmas gift. Let me know how you do!
