Why spend any money to become a spiritual counselor? Just read your Bible and possibly a book on Christian counseling. It really shouldn't matter if you're willing to attend an unaccredited school with professors who have unaccredited degrees from fly-by-night seminaries.
Technically, there's a difference between pastoral counseling, Christian counseling, and Biblical counseling. Pastoral counseling programs are intended for clergy and will include some evidence-based practices. Christian counselors are just regular, licensed counselors who incorporate their faith into their practice. Really, they should be attending an accredited school and earning real credentials. Biblical counselors reject science and evidence-based practices, so they solely rely on the Bible.

I added "(Unaccredited)" to the thread title. This is so categorically different from almost all the schools we discuss that it's important to signal that prominently.
I dunno man, there are some pretty sketch schools that are lauded around here. A Christian pastoral program that isn't accredited doesn't seem too beyond the pale.

I saw on another forum that the "tuition-free" programs at "Queens College of Theology" are no longer accepting students.
I do not know if that is also the case for their paying students or not.
They still appear to be unaccredited.

That's the reason people need to investigate institutions they want to apply for and enroll in, unaccredited doesn't necessarily mean they are providing subpar education, they're just not accredited by the proper authorities or channels. Having said that, there are institutions that are registered under the state and/or licensed to operate like a business, but they're diploma mills selling degrees without any need of completing work at all, or go the religious exemption method...

The school has retired some courses and changed pricing, so I assume they are no longer enrolling students in the retired courses.
Can one of the mods kindly change the tread title? The counseling course is now $300 (advertised as an activation fee). Thank you.

They do not appear to have any faculty member with an accredited doctorate. Every one holds one or two unaccredited doctorates or candidacies for unaccredited doctorates.
So what you're telling me is that Columbia Divinity is not Columbia University Divinity School ...
