WGU BSCSIA preliminary plan--thoughts?
#11
If your CLEP center also allows for DSST exams, you could take Technical Writing there and get it out of the way quickly. DSST also has Ethics in Technology, & Statistics.

It does not list Sophia's Environmental Science course as meeting the Integrated Physical Science requirement, so I probably wouldn't do that one.

It does. *ENVS1001 (SOPH-0016)

Good point re: DSST. I'll check that out.

Sorry - I looked at Sophia's website rather than WGU's partnerships, and they don't match.

Sophia's website seems to be out of date when it comes to most schools. Understandable, I guess, but still frustrating.

My understanding is that the availability of DSST is still very limited:

https://www.prometric.com/test-takers/search/dantes

"At this time civilian, non-eligible military, and self-funded military test takers cannot take an exam at a Prometric Testing Center or via a Remote Proctor."

If you know a way around this, I'm interested.

I've not taken a DSST at a Prometric Testing Center - always at a college testing center.  So as long as you can find one of those, you're fine.

I can vouch that the Tech Writing DSST works for the WGU BSCSIA. Fairly easy test. I also took it at my local college testing center.
Dropped:  WGU MSCSIA

Completed:  WGU BSCSIA (started 10/1/2018, finished 01/11/2019), Pierpont BOG AAS (5/2018)

Hey, are DSST exams generally preferred by folks here over things like Sophia and SDC? Just trying to figure out the best use of my time and money.

No, because DSSTs can be difficult to access. SDC and Sophia can be accessed from home. Some people live nearer to testing centers and/or prefer DSSTs for their own reasons, but usually Sophia or SDC are both faster and easier once you account for things like study and travel time. DSSTs simply happen to have a few options that aren't easily available from any other method.
