WGU Grad - enroll before TESU BA degree conferred?
#1
I missed the deadlines to graduate TESU in December so now it'll be March.  but I will be done with all of the TESU classes by Oct 31st.

Does WGU let people enroll before their BA is conferred?  or will I have to wait until April to get started?

No, WGU is oddly strict about this, even if you provide written confirmation from TESU that you've met all requirements.

Bummer.   Are there any programs that are kind of like WGU (Self paced) that DO allow it?

oh that was dumb!

I was looking at their Management and Leadership degree.    I'm not *so* interested in MBA but might consider one....

I have a 'break' from the end of Oct to September (when I'll start a counseling masters program) so I'd like to find something that could be MOSTLY done in 10 months.

Which Masters in Counselling are you going for? Which school is it? Is it completely online?
There are a few programs you can look into.
1) Patten MBA - 7 concentrations, finish it in 8 months for $4K
2) Hodges, MPA or MIS - finish either one in 6 months for $3.5K
3) Capella Masters programs, they're $2500/3 month terms - finish a Masters in 6 months for 5K

I know you and I have talked about these MBA programs frequently lately but I don't think I've ever asked about enrolling before having the physical degree in hand. Do you (or anyone else) know/have experience as to whether they allow you to enroll if you are finished and have confirmation from the school, just not the degree yet?

Bjcheung arent you a bit afraid of Patten? It seems an extremely small cohort, for-profit. It is competency based, but that's really the only thing I can see it's having for itself...

Or maybe I am missing something?

I could see it as a fun experiment if you've got the money and want to try. Being frank, I think the WGU MBA is far better than the Patten MBA or the Capella Cahella MBA and costs about the same, and there are better options than WGU that cost about the same.

I had a look at Capella self-paced MIS/tech management and it looks really good on paper, very up to date curriculum. It's unfortunate the school has a big for-profit stigma, I work with tech companies in the valley and asked around about the school, pretty much everyone told me it would not be seen in a favorable light to have Capella on my CV.
