Walden Tempo Learning - June 7, 2021 Start - MBA FREE Term
#1
I wrote about Walden's FREE MBA term https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid337520 but forgot to create a post on this yesterday, you can find the link here: https://www.waldenu.edu/financial-aid/li...ngs?page=2

Tempo Competency-Based Learning: Receive your first subscription at no cost if you reside in the U.S. and start this program on June 7, 2021. Contact one of our Enrollment Specialists to learn more.

Tuition reductions are not retroactively applied. Tuition reductions are applicable to tuition only and do not apply towards books, materials and other supplies or fees needed for a course. Students are responsible for other non-tuition costs, including but not limited to university and program and custom-related fees and taxes. Any tuition reduction will end with any change or completion of current program or Start Date. Subsequent tuition reductions will be based upon what is being offered at that time. Any unused portion due to a break in attendance will be forfeited.

Walden may change the tuition reduction offered hereunder at any time, but such change will not affect the tuition reduction for students who are currently enrolled at Walden and using the existing tuition reduction. All tuition reductions, grants, or scholarships are subject to specific eligibility requirements. Contact a Walden University Enrollment Specialist for details.

I'm working through this now from the group with a May start date. Be prepared to do some no credit competencies to start. They aren't onerous, but do eat up a few days. I believe they were designed to be sure everyone begins with the same knowledge base. I'm enjoying the courses and the project based competencies.

Masters in Nonprofit Leadership, City Vision University

Completed Degrees:

BA Christian Leadership, Christian Leaders Institute 2023

ADDITIONAL GRAD CREDIT:

Certificate in Post-Crisis Hospitality Management - University of South Florida, Muma College of Business 2020

I am also starting the MBA now. Got through the zero credit competency and now reading everything for the next. I might need to approach this differently. I’m so used to physical books. This is not as easy for me to navigate.  But that’s more on me.

So I looked into this (even though I swore I wouldn't be doing an MBA for like 10 years) because... well, free. They wouldn't accept me for the June 7 start because TESU isn't conferring my degree until June 11th, and they wouldn't tell me if they're continuing the free first term into July's start date.

Does anyone have any information on accelerating a Walden MBA? I know there's a huge community around the WGU degrees, but I haven't been able to find anything similar for Walden.

Basically, keep on track. Technically, a person should be able to complete two courses per term if they are working on it full time. I was a little under that due to having multiple surgeries in my first term. Don't take the prerequisites super serious. Record your answers as your testing so you can get through it within hopefully three attempts. Then, rather than reading the material right away go straight to what the assignment will be for the class. Each of the sections from the assignment correlates to a section for the week. Make sure you know what you're supposed to be writing about for that week before you start reading, so you can be writing your paper as you read. I didn't do that and when I go back I definitely will be. Divide the sections by the number of weeks that you have to complete that course and make sure that you stay on track.

Sorry, I was interested in their Tempo offerings, not the course-based. I'm assuming that advice is for their course-based MBA?

I got in on the same promotion with the May 3 start date.  It does seem that they are repeating this promotion.  Do you know who you talked with?   I could ask my coach/advisor if they can make sure you get in on the promotion with the later start date.

I spoke with a Nico, and I did ask if it would be going on in July. They said they didn't have access to the promotions for July yet, and I needed to follow back up.

I am betting they will have it again in July, although I certainly can’t promise anything. I know I have seen it offered for several months now. They guy I originally spoke with was Stowe. He is really great to work with and answered all of my crazy questions when I was starting out.
