There are a set of lectures on Archive.org Also a great asset is the learner.org sites video series "The Western Tradition" in addition if you haven't signed up for instantcert the exam specific section is awesome for hints and study guides as well as the flashcards and audio (although it is a bit robotic)

reading the West Civ books was dry for me too but with the rest combined along with going through the questions in the back of the REA with the corresponding answer i did well.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum :
