Excelsior for B.A. or B.S.
#1
Right now with unscripted FEMA credits I have 47 hours at my local community college, with the additional 10 FEMA credits I would have 57. My local cc requires a 20 hour residential before conferring A.S. That means I have to take a minimum of 20 more hours before I get my A.S. Today I found out that my local university (where I could get very cheap tuition) will only accept 15 hours clep, so that is a no go for finishing up B.A. or B.S. Would some of the former and current students of Excelsior advise me. Should I just chunk my cc and go ahead and get my A.S. through Excelsior after having my FEMA credits (10) transcribed through Frederick and then proceed to test out as many courses as I can and try to finish up this decree quickly. I feel like I am spinning my wheels with the local cc. I enjoy the testing and with the exception of english and biology have passed. I'm a B student and that is where I am testing at. Anyway, how much does it cost for a transcript analyses and what would it cost me (roughly) to graduate from Excelsior (just the graduation cost, (banking) not the classes themsleves? Any advise would be much appreciated. CONFLICTED

For Excelsior:

Application fee $75
Enrollment fee: $895
Annual fee: $440 (this is per year after the first year)
Graduation fee: $495

Fees are lower for military, and there are threads in this forum on getting a reduced enrollment fee by joining various associations. If you're pursuing the AAS/AOS instead of the AA/AS, the fees are also lower (AAS/AOS programs are geared towards military personnel).

Assuming you accumulate all the necessary credits within 12 months of enrollment, you'll get a regionally-accredited post-secondary degree for $1465 in fees plus whatever you spend on courses, exams, and study materials.

Note that the fees are exactly the same for a Bachelor of Arts as for an Associate of Arts.
